.....1/3rd cup Aloe to 2/3rds cup alcohol making one cup total with 2/3rds of it being alcohol IS 2/3rds alcohol or am I missing something....
I have never seen 91% or higher alcohol for sale to the general population......

Here is the link to how I made mine.

Seems legit to me....
What you're missing is percentages. You need 60% minimum alcohol content to be effective.

So if you have a bottle of 70% alcohol and you take two parts of that and one part aloe you have 70%+70%+0% alcohol content divided by three. Which means your hand sanitizer is only 46% alcohol, WAY below the suggested limit.

The alcohol you're mixing in you said is only 70%. The recommended to use is 90%. you are diluting the total alcohol content more by adding 1/3 aloe. you can purchase 91% Isopropyl alcohol (got mine at Dollar General) but you might have a hard time finding it now.

Thank you for saying it far clearer than I did! Latest recommendation I saw was 90% so you if using lower you have to adjust.

Reading up on it......

Looks like I need to dump more alcohol in my bottles perhaps.

 I followed the directions per the link so.... That is also the recipe I had seen many other places.

If you have a Shed you could put it out there. Or in a sealed Bucket. I would rather not have anything that may be contaminated but then again I was in the health care field so I know how easily things get transferred when you don't think they did
I have a large covered porch that deliveries get left on and I've been leaving those outside for at least 24 hours. And funny you mention in a bucket...I have two galvanized cans (currently empty) already on the porch that I'm thinking of tossing things in to.

My car is a hybrid so in a normal month I only need 8 gallons of gas (one fill up) despite having to drive to school daily. Now I should be good for 3 months. :D
Wish I could have gotten an all electric when I got mine, but there weren't any used standard plug-ins available in my area so I would have had to get special electric installed at the house. Thankfully I still enjoy about 75 miles per gallon. Waaaaayyyyy better than my gas hog *cough* I mean truck.

And like you, I understand the vectors of spread. Though I have to admit I've been getting funny looks from the neighbors when I go down to the mailbox.

Believe it or not, I am not an extremely social person and only go to town on my own perhaps once a week. The Princess and I do eat out a lot, so that is a change. Funny that being told that we have to do it grates a bit, but I completely get it.

@bruceha2000 'common sense is an uncommon quality'. What you see happening is exactly what Cuomo predicted would happen once NYC shut down.
DH and I actually ate breakfast at a Country Kitchen restaurant just before everything hit the fan and that was the first time I can remember we ate at a sit down restaurant in maybe a year?. Might grab a fast food meal to go once or twice a month when we go to town but certainly not every trip. DH is usually in a hurry to get the running around done and get out of town. Even when I go in by myself I almost never stop to eat. I might grab something from the grocer when I shop to eat on the ride home but most likely I just grab a nice fancy cuppa to go. No Starbucks this far north but one town I go to does have a nice coffee shop.

Cuomo predicted that a NYC shutdown would result in an exodus of folks to other localities - vacation homes, relatives, etc. Needless to say this may/will very likely result in further spread of the disease.
several states are telling folks to NOT go to their cabins for that very reason.
