What do you think about this d.i.y. mask idea:
1 cheap stretchy knee support garment.
1 or more paper coffee or canister vacuum filter.
Pack of cheap mini bungie cords.
Put filter(s) inside knee sleeve. Attach hooks of 2 appropriate length bungies to each end of the flattened knee sleeve each stretching from one end to the other of sleeve, straps will go around head, not ears.
Put on like a hat and pull down over nose and mouth.
May be washed and filters changed out.

Well a coffee filter's not gonna be fine enough for things like viruses/bacteria I'd think. I'm also having trouble envisioning what these knee support things are? Can you post a picture?

So I bought veggie seeds and herb seeds. I'm going homesteader for real. It'll take us a little bit to get our chicks and ducklings grown but by June we will be self reliant. Have to start from somewhere.

Stay safe my friend and hope this strain doesnt cross to our poultry. Its mutated tondifferent strains in humans already and is thought to have derived from bats or mutated from a coronavirus in bats. Lets hope it doesnt mutate to group 3 coronavirus which chickens can catch. I quarantined my silkies today from everyone else.

Distilleries many small one's across the US have taken upon themselves to pump out sanitizer, auto manufacturers have takin it upon themselves to start making ventilators, Ford and GM, Tesla I forget how many they said they were making, and masks. Haynes is going to start pumping out masks, 3M also. We'll get through this.

As for the filters, some vacuum filters are sub micron capturing. Coffee filters would be various also. If not mistaken the Sars-Cov-2 is .3-.5 microns https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)30211-7/fulltext so you need to check the filter's properties. Multiple layers might give a more HEPA like performance. Or if you actually have some other sub micron filter paper you could put that inside.
