Sooooo while this pandemic brings out the best in some....the he worst remains as well.

My husband drives a company truck for work which means his personal vehicle is parked at the shop overnight while he is on call.
He arrived at the office this morning to find his truck has been stolen.

Human race. <<sarcasm just so you know.

It is. I am just really glad we carry full coverage insurance. It won't be enough to replace the truck but should help.

400 cases yesterday. 20 in my county.
Might have to venture out to the store soon, everyone pretty much ate everything. It's like people are constantly hungry. I find myself saying 'you just ate' several times throughout the day.
Last time I went to the store it was slim pickens.. hardly anything left, not even kidding.

Put me in that "always hungry" category. I don't know whether it's stress or boredom but eating is all I want to do.

But going to stores isn't all that scary. It's different. I can be frustrating but I don't feel all that unsafe doing it when necessary. Speaking of which, today is going to have to be an errand day.

We just got word of our first confirmed case in our county yesterday. One in the county above us. Worst case scenario was when it made the news that a doc who treats cancer patients and saw a full schedule of patients last Thursday in Kirksville has tested positive for the virus.

I don't know how it can get any worse than that. Those poor people.

We are hunkered down with a locked gate. Young neighbors next door (1/4th a mile away) check in on us, the old folks next door in my own words, LOL) via email. We had plans to run into town next week to replenish a few things but that is on hold with them not divulging where the case in our county was discovered. I understand HIPPA but for goodness sakes, we don't want their name and address, just WHERE in the county are they?

I have to say, I am reading some stories from the front line hospitals about the doctors and nurses who are fighting this battle alongside the victims and tears are rolling down my cheeks. I read this morning that some are resorting to wearing garbage bags to protect themselves because there is such a shortage of PPEs.

I am a retired nurse. Never in my life have I been prouder to say that or never have I been prouder of my chosen profession. I have been in their shoes during flu and GI virus outbreaks and know what they are going through and facing. Their dedication and perseverance in the face of danger, their compassion and their skill is a credit to each and every one of them.

I call them Angels in Scrubs and I can't think of a more fitting term to describe them. Yet in the back of my mind I wonder how many of them will wind up sacrificing their own lives or accidentally carry this virus home to their loved ones by the time this is over.

I am humbled by their sacrifice to mankind.

Be safe everyone, and God watch over the Angels in Scrubs.

Eckkkk... Covid-19 has made my retirement account residents seriously ill.
Some investments are near death.
I've unfortunately no penalty free access to get out any for a few more years though.

So looking at all this ongoing misery in the media and now my account (since probably have to file tax to prove eligibility for a share of the covid-19 package just signed) has mad me sooooo tired, that I let out such a huuuuge yawn it sounded like a male lion's calll.

My chicks in the brooder totally went berserk!!!

Who knew chickens have an instinctive fear of the sound of a lion?

Now I'm roaring with laughter every time the chicks react to hearing another yawn!

By the way Boonie Stomper, thankyou for the offer of raspberry canes, but I had already ordered and they were already shipped from Park's seeds.

AMEN! microchick! And how about that resourcefulness?! I made sure we sent my ICU nurse daughter that story in case that was an option they needed to implement.

They are coming up with accommodations all the time. Not up to standard sometimes but forced by necessity and their drive to make things work and save lives.

Sorry, if it bothers you, this is my coping mechanism, being quarantined inside!!! There's enough false statements from our leader to make matters worse. I'm not letting my 14yr old daughter go back to school until I feel it's safe. She might not go back until fall. As an ICU RN with 25yrs experience, I think this is just the beginning Folks!! It really hasn't spread to the middle of the country yet, It's on both coasts and the numbers are rising daily. We had to rent Ventilators during an especially active INFLUENZA outbreak in the past. US hospitals do not have enough Ventilators to handle the number of patients who need them. That's the TRUTH. Hospitals have been running on bare-bones equipment because of the cost. It's hard to justify equipment sitting idle waiting for a pandemic. I don't blame hospitals, I blame the government.

Ok, I got my "It's ready" pick email from TSC (my only local feed store) and it's the same general pick up email. Nothing on how things might be done differently.
Not sure if I'll go today because there is still a lot of water across the driveway, but for sure by tomorrow. When I do go I'll report back how my store is doing things.

I just called them, and it's just business as usual.
My state isn't under a mandatory stay at home/essentials only, but the governor has asked for these things. Most of the state is complying based on what I'm seeing in state news, however my area has been blase from the beginning and now local health official are just starting to sound a very loud alarm across local news stations.

The girl on the phone said I still have to come in and sign for the feed and there would not be anyone to help load it. Which is fine, I can sling bags on my own, but I am rather surprised since we have had cases here for over a week now. They do still have chicks at the moment (I could hear them) and they plan to continue with chicks and also plan to lengthen chick days longer into spring because of all this.
The chicks are selling out usually each day though and she said the end of the day is the worst time because of so many people rushing in before they close early at 6:00pm. There are not special senior hours so I will be there at 8:00am tomorrow.
