Glad it’s not just me! I was thinking maybe I was too soft or something. Although I really wanted to when one of them was crowing constantly.I don't make friends with my chickens or ducks and meat is half of why I have them, and I still have a hard time with it most of the time. Deciding factor to get me to do it is the $$ I'm usually spending way to much in feed.
Grew two BBbronze tom turks last fall put it off week after week next week, maybe next....
50lbs ea live weight about 40lbs dressed.
I don't want to know how much they cost to feed but I bet I could have bought their weight in fresh lobster cheaper...

I tried not to get attached to these chicks since they were mostly boys but did get attached to a few. Of those, one of them got taken by a predator and the other one I’m keeping.
The rest I probably could have butchered them, I was about ready to with how annoying they were being lol, but even then, they would do something cute the next second and make it hard again.

It was harder too I feel like because I hatched and raised them myself and it was my first ever hatch. I think subsequent hatches will be easier.
