As I said earlier, I missed the origins of this particular thread.

Surely you've talked to your doctor. Did he or she refer you to a nutritionist or an introductory class on diabetes (don't even know which level you said you were at).? I think that's sorta standard practice because it gets a little complicated and it's a major change for most people.

Cutting sugar is HARD but I can tell you from past experience that when you bite the bullet and get through it the craving goes away. That said, honesty requires that I tell you I've gotten thoroughly addicted again and haven't been able to kick it for the last several years.

If you want a White Knuckle Buddy, we could try to do it together...

As for tea I'm a major tea lover and that's why I've always drunk it (go ahead and correct me, guys; I'm sticking with "drunk") without anything. I like to taste all those subtle grassy notes. Try it! It's good stuff that really doesn't need sugar!

Good luck. I hope we're not scaring you to death or beating you over the head. It's just important stuff that can enormously improve your life down the road.
I haven’t talked to him yet but the nurse did explain it a tiny bit when they called the first time but that was years ago. It was “prediabetic” or at least borderline. The next visit I think it went down below that but still somewhat high. He tested it again because of the first result.

Then about a month ago I went for my physical and got bloodwork done and still have not gotten the results back (usually they’re very fast) so I am a bit nervous something is wrong.

And thank you. This helps. I think I would like to just quit it “cold turkey” if possible and be done with it haha I don’t think I really need sugar. I actually tried to order some when I got my monitor but they were out. Clearly a sign, huh? 😂

I’ve tried tea plain and it’s so nasty to me 😂🙈 but I think I need to just get used to it.

And nah, it’s okay! I appreciate the help! I need to read more about it. I think because it’s not full blown diabetes yet I should be able to get it under control with just diet and exercise. Or at least hopefully.

All the stuff you have been moving around doing is great! But....it will affect you reading. The reading should be taken when you wake up before eating/drinking and before exercise.
Exercise lowers blood sugars and it can be by A LOT.

I want you to get a real reading because that is important.

Thank you!! This is very helpful. So should I just go ahead and eat then and wait to do the test till later or?

You can test then eat and test again 2 hours later. It will tell you how what you ate affected the reading.

I have to test first thing in the am, then eat and retest after 2 hours.
Throughout the day I have to test before eating and 2 hours after then again before going to bed. It is like 10 times a day I have to test.

For you....my suggestion is test tomorrow morning as soon as you get up.....pm me what that reading is and I can help you understand it.

Well, maybe we do have some time after all

If you do not understand why the above picture is funny, then you must have been under a rock about 5 years back during this gem, ain't nobody got time for that:

Btw...Sweet Brown (lady in the video) used her internet fame to turn her life around. Got off drugs, got a job, appears she just needed an opportunity, and good for her for taking it and making something out of it! So you can laugh and feel good too!! :)

ya I agree,,, I just wanted your opinions not looking for anger . He seems like he is going off of false information .. I would rather just air on the side of caution, and wash my hands.
I'm not so sure that I would trust the opinion of someone who swears so much.. It's just not professional.
