Yesterday Duckling and I were flying her kite, and I remembered again how great it is to have enough property to be outside for hours, and not be in danger.

So the beagle heard these were for dinner. She doesn’t realize that this is my breeder and if she eats it she will be sleeping on the couch for a week 😂 I’m actually trying to get her used to them so she isn’t so mental when I’m handling them.

I’ve been handling these 3 quail to get them used to me so that I can handle them at any point. This one is 3 weeks so only about 3-5 weeks and I can get eggs from them to incubate or use for breakfast.

I like being able to go outside and my house and not worry. I honestly will continue being a hermit until next year, I don’t want to risk my health. I’m even going to be a hermit on vacation in august. We rented a house on the beach. I don’t mind laying by the private pool or hanging on the private dock. I don’t need to go anywhere.

OMG...if you cut the chick out of the pic you have the base of a perfect meme. Those eyes and that face!!

In my area of Colorado (Denver area), it's a completely different story in based on what I see. Places are open and have plenty. TP, paper towels, canned good, meat, chicken, pork, it's all in the store. Feed stores have chicks, turkeys, and ducks. Plenty of feed and supplies too. There are no shortages.

As stated before, these "shortages" very localized. I add the quotes because it's not really a shortage, shortages are when there is little or no supply when in fact the supply is fine.

The sky is not falling, we are not going to run out of meat and need to resort to killing our own flocks to survive.

That's my one cent this morning :wee
Umm shortages is subjective I guess. If one is in a drought , fires are prevalent, the well is dry.... but the other side of the country is flooding... I think both sides will believe one of them has a shortage and the other an excess

True, your point is valid given that example. That's why I say it appears localized.

In the current situation, I think a majority of perceived shortages are caused by localized supply chain interruptions, not actual supply shortages. The supply is still there, stockpiles will get depleted, things will slow, but the supply will still keep coming. Slower to some areas versus others, and in large cities it gets taken quickly, but it is, and will, keep coming.

Glad I process my own poultry. People are reporting all the local processors are booked to the end of the year.

Wonder if this is caused by the other processors slowing down, reducing shifts, etc. so smaller processors will receive the overflow from that. Sounds like a good thing for them.

Also sounds like the perfect time to start a processing business!!! Maybe this will be a positive outcome of the situation...more local processors open and provide real, sustainable, jobs.

That's focus, for sure!
Mary
She is a retired hunting beagle. We got her for free from a hunter that no longer could use her because she was gun shy after 3 years. She is the best dog ever. She has extreme focus when it comes to any of our birds, I would not trust her with any of them alone without me there.
