Glad I process my own poultry. People are reporting all the local processors are booked to the end of the year.
I believe it. Just like people who have put orders in for chicks... Good luck getting them because a lot of places cant even fill their orders.

True, your point is valid given that example. That's why I say it appears localized.

In the current situation, I think a majority of perceived shortages are caused by localized supply chain interruptions, not actual supply shortages. The supply is still there, stockpiles will get depleted, things will slow, but the supply will still keep coming. Slower to some areas versus others, and in large cities it gets taken quickly, but it is, and will, keep coming.

Wonder if this is caused by the other processors slowing down, reducing shifts, etc. so smaller processors will receive the overflow from that. Sounds like a good thing for them.

Also sounds like the perfect time to start a processing business!!! Maybe this will be a positive outcome of the situation...more local processors open and provide real, sustainable, jobs.
I think the store shortages in some areas is because people aren't eating out and trying to buy everything from a store. The stores and the suppliers are set up for so much being bought every day and now 3x as much is being bought.
The major meat processors are shutting down for a few weeks because of virus outbreak. The farmer are getting rid of animals that the processor can't take. The farmers need to make room for the new animals coming in. 400 lb pig is being sold for as cheap as $50 and people are trying to get them processed... So the little processors are flooded with locals who normally wouldn't be bringing anything in

So the beagle heard these were for dinner. She doesn’t realize that this is my breeder and if she eats it she will be sleeping on the couch for a week 😂 I’m actually trying to get her used to them so she isn’t so mental when I’m handling them.

I’ve been handling these 3 quail to get them used to me so that I can handle them at any point. This one is 3 weeks so only about 3-5 weeks and I can get eggs from them to incubate or use for breakfast.
