We had a fairly brief period, years ago, between 'employment opportunities', when we had what I called "won't loose the farm" health insurance. It didn't cover routine anything, but would have paid enough towards a bad medical episode. Worth it!
We did have a pretty good employer plan twenty years ago, when DH had a near fatal stroke. That would have wiped us out without that plan; the total bill, then, came to around $350,000! We paid our copays over time, which were enough, but nowhere near that amount!
Now, Medicare plus supplemental is the very best insurance we've ever had! Working for the government, or GM, were always better from an insurance standpoint.

He now has Medicare plus supplemental and that is the best so far. Well almost the best. For a while we were on a type of HMO when he had a disc rupture in his neck. He had a bone graft put in, fortunately at the time the premier spinal surgery clinic in the area was participating. We saw no bills at all! That plan didn’t last long however.

They definitely bicker a lot more with no school. They are saying they are doing school online in the fall too where we are. I hope my kids don’t fall behind because what is being required now is the bare minimum.

If I had young kids I would have to consider home schooling until we know more about this virus.

It seems the only people who have received any money are those who get refunds by direct deposit. We owe every year so we don't have direct deposit set up with them. We have not received a paper check.

My son got his as a paper check last week.

How did that heating pad work out for you?

No heating pad. I rested yesterday and that did me no good. Today I am up and moving pain or not.

I honestly would rather start homeschooling than following the schools teaching. They are not sending substantial work for my kids to actually say they are even in school. They maybe get an assignment a week. My youngest is losing interest fast that’s for sure.

Reminds me of a conversation I was having with a friend. I mentioned the Tacoma Narrows bridge, and his son said, "Oh ya, it's natural frequency". I looked at him with amazement and he replied, "Oh, I am studying to get my Ham radio license, and I am learning about frequency and amplitude." He realized that 'Galloping Gerdy' had failed do to it's resonance in the wind. He was eleven.

No better way to make a child excited about learning than letting them really sink some time into things that interest them.

It's not the virus that would make me want to home school, it's the quality of the education.

My buddies three year old already understands the major epocs of animal life on planet earth due to his love of toy dinosaurs, and has exposed myths that we were taught during our own tenure in grammar school.

My oldest is learning computer coding on his own while school is out. He’s going to create a game for himself and friends. His computer has costs us a lot, but if it helps him conquer his dreams then so be it.

My youngest is focused on swim team right now they are starting back up on Tuesday and only 5 kids are allowed at each allotted time. It’ll be no breaks so he’s pumped to burn energy.
