In between posting here, I'm coaching a special ed student through a quiz for summer school. Distance learning has me giving out my cell phone number to high schoolers and working one-on-one with them over Google Meets well past bed time.

Yet another way COVID has effected my life...
YOU, My Dear, are the kind of teacher every student needs! There aren't enough - at least not in the upper grades - who care that much. DD just switched her career choice from Agricultural Science to Education - mainly because she was blessed enough to have three really inspiring teachers, this year.

Off subject, but so what. This is who I'm chickensitting today: Under my porch.

I celebrate Lief Erikson Day instead. Lol!
Hey - do you know the reason Erikson and his crones had to abandon their settlements in Canada? When they landed, they came upon some natives sleeping on the beach - and killed them all. Let's just say that the people who already lived here were never quite as hospitable to the European "discoverers" after that.
Your thing is Literature ... mine's American History! It's pretty cool ... and kinda scary, 'cause I see so much happening all over again ...

Oh, I loved it! But this is from a girl whose favorite book as a kid was Webster's Eigtht Collegiate Dictionary...

Did I mention I'm a nerd?
I feel ya, Sister! I carried the "H" volume of the encyclopedia around with me everywhere because that was the one with "Horse" in it. I read the whole blasted thing - twice!

@MROO, You need to start rewriting history books!:hugs

I'm shocked that there's other people out there that read books besides me, do kids in school read anymore I'm only 36 but I grew up without a cell phone I was on the cusp of being able to grow up human...lol... and shockingly enough I have absolutely no social media nor do I want it anyone I want to know about or wanted to know about me is in the know... I connect with my relatives from Italy over WhatsApp and that's all I need oh, don't need to see what people are eating where they're walking where they're sitting
Both of my kids read. They have to - we have no TV, No NetFlix. No cable. They both have social media and phones, but DD doesn't really use either and DD uses her phone to talk to her boyfriend across state lines. Her FB page is entirely devoted to her cows and her dog. I'll take it!

Oh, I know the Wykings were pretty horrible. I don't pretend they weren't.
