Of all the places we have been lucky enough to have visited, this is my favorite. It's not fancy - it's real, and I think the spirit of Assateague possessed me during a thunderstorm. It's my birthday present to myself each year. It's changed over the years - ponies are now fenced away from the beach and visitors because of the stupidity of mankind, but I love that place.
I like Outer Banks and the wild horses

Anyone else feeling the frustrations surrounding back to school? (I know it's really early for some, but things are getting started around here)

I know what we are doing at my house, but the districts seem to be running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Each district put out hybrid plans a few weeks ago but one by one they are having to switch to all virtual and push back the start dates because they are not ready or kids don't have the technology that they need.

Makes me wonder what they did all summer because it doesn't appear that planning was on the agenda.
Many of my friends are teachers - and they've worked harder this summer than they EVER have. Mostly, it's been all about learning how to convert their lessons to online. It's not just putting up the content, it's learning how kids learn online - what reaches them, what doesn't, how to get around the mental blocks when you're not face-to-face ... heck, just learning to RECOGNIZE the learning blocks when you're not face-to-face is a whole art in itself! These ladies (and a handful of men) are REALLY working hard to try to put this new year together ... and most of them have the same issues their students' parents have ... because they not only have our children to worry about ... they have kids of their own, too. It's a double-whammy for them, and I don't envy any of them.
I am grateful that my kids are starting college, this year. The first-year classes are pretty much all online, now, anyway, so there shouldn't be as much confusion for them.

EDIT for typos

Chincoteague is a true, waterfront community. It's a WONDERFUL place to be, whether you live there or are just visiting! And Assateague is one of the BEST campgrounds around ... as long as you keep an eye out and plan to control mosquitos the size of small dogs!

A big Sunday brunch is the best.

Often I will put some potatoes in the oven while something else is cooking, then keep them handy in the fridge. I like to cut them up, skin and all, and toss them in a skillet with some olive oil and fry them up golden brown and delicious. Especially good with fluffy scrambled eggs for dinner.
I sure will miss the days of the huge all-you-can-eat brunches for Mothers' Day. I'm sure those have been lost due to this Covid mess.

Were you there in the years when there were clouds of mosquitoes ? We all went to the Lighthouse, and then the kids and I ran away from the Princess and got in the car - she was not thrilled. Mosquitoes now are only an 'occasional' nuisance.

Another Covid note ... Maryland's numbers are ticking upward ,,,significantly. We have to wear masks in indoor establishments, including restaurants, if we are away from our own tables, but now, we also have to wear them in outdoor public spaces unless we can maintain a true 6-foot distance between us and others.
It's getting scary, again.

I’m probably super late to the party but I have to dance at home now (I do online school so it school didn’t change for me lol) and let me just say this: pointe at home is not as easy as it seems.
I have not only permanently damaged my feet from regularly going en pointe, but have also got multiple cuts and bruises from slipping on my hardwood floor!!! Thank goodness for tape and marley!

Grand daughter lives near Annapolis. She is scheduled to come live with us on Aug. 4 for two weeks so that she can go to Syracuse U. mid August.
