That's an old article and yes, it was sad and part of what contributed to the meat shortages at that time. I do wonder though, how poultry farms are doing currently.
When I went to the grocery store recently the meat shelves were full again.

Saw a recent bit on the news about the rising prices of dairy and grain based foods now. I mean beyond the crazy prices of eggs that seemed to dominate the news for a while.
