Yeah, the trick is in major locations handle mail for countrysides.

Like you don't drive a package from TN to OH through Athens OH or Nolensville TN. It's gonna follow highways (65 to 71) through major cities, then the major city distribution centers will distribute them to smaller locations from there. So chances are good that your mail slowdown is coming from bigger distribution centers in major, mainly urban, areas.

Tens of thousands of baby chicks are dying in transit in the mail right now. :T It's always weird to see chickens hitting mainstream news. This is just really sad.
I knew this would happen. I wouldn’t buy chicks until next year
x2! Horrible, a problem that would obviously happen, and nobody 'up there' cares about it.
There aren't all that many chicks available to be ordered, and this is not the time.
Blood pressure up again...
Mary
Makes my blood boil too because it was avoidable.

What Dejoy did was supposedly illegal (shocker, I'm sure) because changes to the USPS have to go through a review board so they can see what the proposed changes will do/cause and then they can be approved/not approved. The proper review would have known/calculated the death and/or loss (spoilage) of a variety of products that normally go through the mail.
One more completely moronic cluster in a long line of them.

The sad part, besides the awful losses, is that it's the hatcheries that have to eat the losses and they'll have to rehatch more chicks to replace the dead ones. Maybe not immediately, but eventually. And when word gets out even more people will stop ordering chicks. I'm sure the hatcheries will then have a surplus to deal with...

Takes a long time to gain trust and reputation but only a second to destroy it.

Sad part about masks is I have 40% less capacity in my lungs than a normal person, but I wear my mask. Boils my blood to heat people complain. I want to say if my broken lungs can handle it then their good ones can

Getting a little further along on the schooling front. Our district is all virtual at this time and will remain so until at least mid Oct. Teachers will be going to the school buildings daily to "teach" from their classrooms. Some will have live sessions/Zoom join ins, others will video tape the lessons so the kids can watch on their schedules, and still others will check in with students individually as needed.
It doesn't seem that there will be a daily check in/homeroom type of thing, but that could be because for us it's high school, instead of the younger groups, and kids are expected to be somewhat autonomous and independent.

edit: pre-coffee typos
Those pre-coffee typos :lau
Your district seems more relaxed, and hopefully easier for families. We don't know when it will physically resume but teachers are planning supply pick-ups for September. I can honestly see it going on like this through the school year. I hope not but whatever keeps the kids safe.
I was also homeschooled. Wasn't great for my social life or mental health, but learning wise I came out fine. I was in the 99th percentile on reading comprehension and didn't have a single score under 70th percentile on the SATs.

Honestly I think a year of home learning will be totally fine for most kids. it's not like they're going without social settings forever and learning doesn't stop just because you're at home or even doing fewer hours of work.

(Disclaimer for it sucks when parents aren't home/are too busy trying to make ends meet to actually help their kids along. My mom was a SAHM, so I had someone pushing me. Not everyone does or can do that.)
I do appreciate that I am home, even if it has its own challenges. My sister works full-time from home AND she's helping her 2 kids with their schooling. She has me and an uncle (from their dads side) to help do supply & meal pick ups but she can't really leave her work computer for too long to help them stay on task.

I couldn't imagine homeschooling though. I need direction from the teachers or I feel clueless. But then I hate the pressure 😅 I am almost caught up with my [kids] homework! Just 3 more assignments.

True that! It mind boggles me... people with healthy lungs are being put on ventilators, etc. So, you'd think people with weaker lungs would worry twice as much.... ? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do you know how hard it is for someone to breathe with a mask on when they do not have fully operating lungs?

Those people shouldn’t have to put a mask on, but people feel they have some right to not where one when they don’t have bad lungs.

I shouldn’t have to wear a mask because those who are healthy should be responsible and mature enough to put on a mask so I don’t have to...

Instead I have to almost pass out in the pharmacy line because people aren’t wearing one. My oxygen dropped to 82% the other day because of the difficulty. But I said nothing and closed my eyes and prayed I’d make it out with my own two feet and not a stretcher and ambulance.

That is very true!! Honestly, I cannot imagine what it truly feels like. I don't mean to offend you either because I completely agree. The people who truly are having difficulty, such as yourself, are still protecting themselves and not throwing a public tantrum over it.
It just seems a lot of people refusing claim they have these conditions but don't have proof (example, the Trader Joe's customer)....Which is why it boggles me.

I was not offended. I don’t get people refusing and saying they have health conditions. Even people I know with other lung conditions wear their masks... it seems like most of the people acting a fool over it are the healthy people.
