*siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

I guess the upshot is that masked Halloweeners might still be able to walk around at least. During the early days of the pandemic I wore a fox Halloween mask (with a cloth mask underneath and rabbit-print scarf) just to add some humor to a scary situation. It smelled really toxic and was hard to see through, so I stopped wearing it. But I might need to get it back out if my kids want to walk around on Halloween (I doubt I'll let them go to trick or treating though).

From the "if its not one thing, it another" file:

Last night we are at ~4.5 months since last cleanse of the well..... one of the kiddos said, "Dad, the faucets dribbling water like this -- drip (pause) drip(pause) drip...."

Well, This morning i got up early and went for a bunch of vinegar to cleanse the Stainless steel well pump and motor housing. Poured it in the funnel. Count down has begun T minus 48 hours to go.

I also came up with a creative solution to gain a boost to the water already in the pressure tank and the settling tank. /slaps forehead last night when it dawned on me

The pipe coming outta the wellhead has a big brass check valve and before it is a shrader valve. this allows air to be pulled in to the pip between the check valve and the check valve above the pump. This allows the reduction in pressure on the pump when it gets kick started. I decided to put a shraider valve after the check valve and then I hooked up the air compressor and fired it up.... put the "tire inflator" attachment on and tested the little shraider valve.
Bubbling started in the pressure tank and the needle on the gauge started to raise in no time flat.

Bonus!

So its a 150 gals total that will give us about 50 gals of pressurize water for emergency stuff over the next 46 hours and then approx 75 galoons of gravity fill water.... but, we never need that much. So, piece of cake. Normally I have a warning pop-up in the calendar on my phone.... alas that got derailed when covid-19-mare rolled across us all. I had to figure-out how I was going to get the amount of vinegar that I normally get when all the shelves were bare back in March/April (smirks)... it took me 4 weeks of getting 1-4 at each store- *when* they had some..... well oops.

I'm off to go be semi-productive... The coldfronts inbound for tomorrow night and we have a nice batch of rain forecast and approx a 20*F drop across the board for a few days as well. so, umm... y'all behave now, ya-hear? ;)

That picture is fantastic. XD Personally I've been pondering making a good old fashioned plague doctor mask.

This one is only like $10 including shipping.... Very affordable. I could just buy one.

That would certainly keep folks away, it's scary enough without the history behind it!
Today, on 30 minutes notice, the tree guy arrived, to take down a very few trees in our wood lot. Managed to move the horses, but not the two steers, so at least some help. One of the steers is a sweet pocket pet, the other one, not so much. DH is out there in the truck helping with gates, which can't be left open, because of those two boys.
Then, the tree guy asked if he could leave his equipment in the field with the cattle. "They can't hurt it, right?" HAH! I recommended against it, seeing what they've done in the past, especially with those horns!

I don't even own cows. XD But I know better than to leave things you want undamaged in with animals, especially big untrained ones. It's just a nope. Shame you didn't have any advance notice. :T

Personally, I think the plague doctor masks are just deeply cool looking. But when I bother to have any fashion sense it tends to be a little bit dark and eclectic. XD I actually have places I go when it's not pandemic times that it would not be terribly out of place so if I went to the effort of having one it'd get used.

As a introvert the virus personally has not effected me in to awful a way. I'm looking at the positive. So I decided to share some positives in case someone needs encouragement.
1.Grocery shopping on-line and curb side pick up is awesome!!
2.My cousin and his wife caught it but stayed upstairs and his teenage kids learned to be responsible and take care of business down stairs and did not catch it.
3.My accountant who has two little kids that seem to always be sick did not catch it when her husband caught it and had to quarantine in the same house.
4 .We own a small electrical company and everyone needs electricity so our business has not been effected other than getting material for jobs may take a little longer. It's actually gotten busier.
5. I have a good excuse not to have to go to gatherings which I find abhorrent.
6. Kids can be bully's and mean so some kids may benefit from on line learning
Smaller class sizes that can be monitored better. You'll be able to actually see whats going on in the classroom and what teachers are teaching through zoom classes. Education may have reached a new era and more productive ways of learning and teaching may come out of this crazy mess.
7. I see hiring signs everywhere so when it is time to go back to work there are still job out there and there's more sure to come once things get rolling.
8. My livestock have no clue we're in a pandemic so don't behave or treat me any different not to mention I'm able to give them more of my time since I'm home more.
9. I hated going to the doctor's office because I was scared I was going to catch the flu or something but now the safety precautions in place(masks, sanitizers, social distancing) I feel less gross when entering a doctors office.
10. Nursing homes that were mismanaged and deplorable are now being ousted and held accountable for conditions and treatment of patients and staff( I hope this continues past the pandemic)
I'll leave it at 10 but I have so much more to be grateful for and appreciative of everything even during a pandemic. Have a wonderful Labor day to all !!!:celebrate
