Ugh. And Sturgis is in a state with a high number of mostly Lakota reservations. Because Native people (and BIPOC communities more generally) are more susceptible to COVID-19, I wonder how many Indigenous people were infected as a result of Sturgis attendees who passed through their reservations.

Not sure but,(said in elevating tone) from what I recall hearing.... Several tribes had started blocking travel through their reservation(months ago) with health check points. And appearantly they had police back up onna few well traveled roads that made a convoy of bikers turn around and take a detour around at least one reservation. In fact I recall a story tidbit about some off duty LEO's who were in that convoy and the police at the check point were reacting to the on duty police as if "let us pass we are blue brothers" and they got rude and ugly when they were told to go around "that way." We saw some friends who have 2 college age sons, both were COVID tested by their university upon arrival back in the dorm. Both tested "positive" and subsequently kicked out of dorm and told to quarantine.

Sons both felt fine, no symptoms so came home to parents who took them to their docs and retested. Both came back negative for COVID. They have continued to feel fine with no symptoms. Parents plan to retest again in a week or so.

More and more factual stories like this are coming to light. I suggested that they pull their sons out of this university.

Pull their sons out of a university cause the test initially came back positive (probably just a mistake too) and they’re being smart and don’t want everybody else on campus to get sick or possibly kill someone ?

The coronavirus testing is very similar to a pregnancy test in the sensitivity and specificity of its results. Kind of like a pregnancy test in that if it’s positive yes it’s positive but If it is negative it could still be positive. Especially if they were retested later, the viral load in their nasal passages will be lower and could come back as a false negative result. Upwards of 40 to 50% are asymptomatic carriers of this virus so that they felt fine, especially in younger people, is pretty meaningless. Just wanted to set the record straight.
Yes, it is unfortunate that these college kids have to be sent home as they tested positive, it is really the only thing we can do right now as there was such a lack of a federal response at the get go of this whole pandemic. Every state, every institution, every place has to come up with their own protocols on how to deal with things. Unfortunately this piecemeal approach to a worldwide pandemic has left us in the situation that we are now.

When we moved to So-Cal from SOuthern Michigan I learned the concept of travel time was the correct way to convey where you were going.

Case in point if we were going to Laguna Beach or (for perspective) all the way to San Diego from Costa Mesa, we never spoke as to how many miles the drive was for a time reference..... It was always a 2+ hour drive even though the route was something like 80-90 miles.

Now here in the DFW area. Both methods are valid with a very large font asterisk!
It's now a fact that was a theory back in the 70's in So-Cal (where the term Moving parkinglot seems of been coined); if a major accident occured in the morning "rush hour traffic" then the delay will domino all the way out till after sunset on weekdays or holidays.

That is now a proven fact is many major metro areas where gridlock can easily happen.

It's funny like that for me.

Yeah NH always takes like 2-3 hours even though it’s not that far haha getting through Boston usually takes the longest and right before and after. Although lately it’s been pretty empty in the tunnels. The congestion getting up there is annoying. It’s like everybody just piles up right on top of each other even when there’s plenty of room on the road and no other cars!

Uh Oh ... there's another auto-correct brewing here ... Wikipedia (big surprise here) has it ALL wrong! Some people use "stud" to describe a single, ungelded male horse, but in reality, that's a stallion. The "Stud" is the actual farm, or possibly the entire collection of breeding animals.
Zheesh, I love language ... even when it's frustrating!

It is a stallion. I never said it wasn't. you just repeated what I said. A stud is a stud. A stud horse, used for breeding. You can have a stallion you do not breed or use as a stud. I didnt say they were the same thing

Any trained bovine is called an ox. Almost always a steer, because bulls are too difficult, and cows are too valuable in other ways. Every ox I'm aware of is a steer. We start them usually as bottle fed babies, really cute, and then they keep in training as they grow up.
Most are from dual purpose breeds, or dairy breeds, because the beef breeds get too heavy and have trouble actually working. The biggest team I ever saw was a team or Aryshires, and with their upturned horns, really impressive!

I have friends in Vermont who just received their SECOND order of dead chicks - to the tune of 150 per order. That was supposed to be their family's winter meat. They're gonna get awfullt tired of venison, this year!

I guess the post office has to reimburse for the chicks? Up to the insurance level.
