Our local school district yesterday had a flurry of offical emails. 1st was high school new positive cases for Monday.
Then carbon copy for elementary schools.
Then after lunch, email saying effective today(Tuesday) all campuses are full remote until after Thanksgiving due to all the positive cases.

Meanwhile my Better-half & kiddos are still quarantining.
The variations in logic and standards is what causes people to ignore "standards"
Its like telling one kid they have to go to bed at 9 yet the other the same age let them stay up and watch a movie. That won't cause any problems. Haha

How they handled businesses.
Churches. Restaurants. Heck anything just name it and the logic of spreading corona varied from the health depts with no standard logic.
By now there should have been one standard across the entire country. How it spreads doesn't change across the country but standards on prevention and containing it does.

Why do folks not get it ? Why when both coasts were initially impacted didn't the rest of the country 'get' what was in store for them? It gets REAL when it strikes close to home. If others choose to be foolish, that's their choice. But I choose to not be near them. I know, I know easy for a semi-hermit to say.

Because they think there's some massive difference between the coasts and the inner country. Whether it's political, or 5G or city VS rural or what, they somehow think that people in those states aren't the same type of human as them. :T Their situation is somehow SO different it couldn't possibly reach them.
Ignorance is bliss I guess. If there's a problem that effects rural America, I fully expect the ramifications to reach from LA to NYC. Somehow they think it doesn't work the other way around.

I have my daughter wearing goggles in addition to the mask that is required by the school. She is the only one in her whole school wearing goggles. Of course being in middle school, she finds this embarrasing. I told her it was either that or distance learning (digital school). She prefers the goggles. Granted we live in area with a lower amount of cases. At least for now anyway...

I can ensure you that it's embarssing even in the 4th year of high schools... :he all my comprehension for your daughter:love

I agree wholeheartedly. There should’ve been one standard across the country from the get-go. Unfortunately it was a lack of the federal response that caused us to be in this mess right now. Hopefully things will turn around soon and we can get to healing. In the meantime everyone stay safe and wear that mask!🥰

But the states have and will continue to do what they want. Thats why traffic laws are different state to state. Laws different. Required permits different. Taxes. Really anything you can think of including ignoring federal laws or refusing to enforce them.
We sure don't want a dictator. Lol. USA stands for United States of America. The states run themselves and honestly the only thing I can think federal does is tax us and pretend to be our diplomat to the world. Hehe

Now I have to figure out how I am going to protect myself when he comes home. I know he will not where a mask around me, so I will where mine and stay as far away from him as I can. And be disinfecting everything all the time. Not much more I can do.

So sorry this is what you have to look forward to. Really. How demoralizing.

Why didn't we begin preparing when Asia and Europe were in the thick of it?????

Thank goodness for chicken therapy!🥰

AMEN! ...even if my hens have been on strike for about a month now.

Federal governments do plenty of things. For example, managing wildlife and watersheds that spread across multiple states. Creating laws that force states to operate similarly so that people can move without losing federal and local tax status (for example, if your adoption or marriage is recognized as legal in one state but not another). They manage highways and military and national programs like social security so you don't lose your 401K if you move to another state. They manage certain product standards so that all things created within a country have the same minimum quality and no single state can sully the reputation of the entire nation. They monitor the spread of livestock, plant and human disease from one state to another and draw up guidelines for prevention of nation spread to preserve food networks. They create overarching laws that define our nation, like the constitution. They govern businesses that operate across multiple states so there are fewer interstate tax loopholes.

Sure they do stupid stuff, too, but these are all really important things, and frankly we wouldn't really be United at all without them. We'd just be States of America.
