In 1979, a doctor rushed back from lunch when a mother delivered quickly. He was dealing with the flu, and didn’t think to wash up or wear a mask. The baby didn’t survive after the doctor coughed on him repeatedly. Even though the doctor was sick, a mask could have saved that child.

I suspect it's going to be creeping closer to all of us. But the good news is the Moderna vaccine has an even better statistical result than the Pfizer one and doesn't require the extreme refrigeration that was going to be a huge problem for many potential distribution centers and injection sites.

Stay healthy, CM!

Finally, when I was hospitalized, there's something respiratory therapists do. Perhaps you and your son could do it to one another. Take turns lying on your stomach with your lower body inclined, if possible. Then the other cups his/her hands slightly and claps/pats on the back in the area of the lungs -- particularly the lower portions -- for 10 minutes or so a few times a day. It's a thumping motion that isn't intended to be painful but is meant to jar the phlegm loose. You guys may or may not have the energy to do this. I dunno. But it was a regular part of the therapies they used to help me.
This is called Tapotement (sp) A very effective technique in massage therapy. The cupped hand that contacts the flat surface of the back is designed to use the combo of the compression/contact upon the surface and the collected air in the palm to create a sort of double "pop" to the strike zone. The level of effort for such a action by the hand is approximately the level of effort one uses when laughingly slapping one's own knee. Enough for a sound effect only. A simple drum pattern of every 1-2 seconds per cupped hand contacting the back is more than adaquit(sp). It is a very low energy output to properly accomplish the resonance effect on the clients back. If you see lightly red zones where your cupped hands make contact over time then your doing it right. YMMV as their flesh may respond with higher redness do to their blood flow and blood pressure.

I'm excited about it. Now if we can just get it out there. Should be able to get it out to most folks by mid summer. 🤞

It takes liquid nitrogen freezers, available, but in short supply. the Moderna vaccine takes 'regular' freezers, yahoo!
Hope for next year, at least by mid-year!

I doubt the efficacy data is a fluke, even though it's preliminary data, as the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are extremely similar. So that's certainly encouraging.

Good news on high rate of efficacy. Question that remains is duration of efficacy.

Well it looks like we are going to opt out on hosting Thanksgiving dinner with our sun and his family. Throughout this Covid time we have been caring for the kids and mostly this has been in fair weather either outside or with open windows. My son and dil had a baby in March, so son was able to take extended leave time.
This leave is now over and he’s back in the factory where although masks are mandatory, many wear them on their chins.
The real disappointment was seeing a pic of dil in her car with a cousin, both raising their Starbucks cups and no masks. On Facebook of course. Lol She is a nursing student so the disappointment is bordering on being really pissed off!
DH and I both are in agreement though so that’s important.
I’d hate to die of this virus at this point in the game, with this much time invested, you know? But young people making young people’s decisions have killed too many already. A lot of old people who should know better too to be truthful. Anyhow that’s my vent! Stay vigilant! :gig
