As many of you know the Princess and I have attended field trials on a limited basis this year - socially distancing and masking when indoors - spending an absolute minimum of time indoors, bringing our own meals and eating outside. On several occasions he has poked fun at us for taking precautions. In spite of his intelligence he just didn't 'get it' until too late.

I have an acquaintance - very intelligent person - who is an anti masker/social distancer/hoaxer. For Thanksgiving he hosted his 6 kids, their significant others, a ton of grandkids. Yesterday his 30 year old son ended up in ICU with coronavirus. It's now very real to him - far too late.

Is he now a 'believer'?

Covid is such a mysterious illness. I have been in quarantine several times, due to exposure. I have seen people get very sick and hospitalized for months and still on oxygen 4 months later yet his spouse never got it. I have seen the fear in people’s eyes and sadness in our children as this illness and fear impact them in learning. We were made to be social creatures, the elderly are so alone. Not seeing smiles and facial expressions or human touch, yes this illness has impacted many. We are fortunate to live a country lifestyle and isolate easily.
I pray for healing . I also ask for kindness for one another. Be kind, care about others, I do know people who can not wear a mask due to anxiety and chronic lung issues- they only shop once a month and carry a doctor’s note. So people won’t harass them. I try to be kind to all, as a health care provider we see it all. I am also a numbers person and like stats. So doing the math for larger cities and small- less than1% of those have active covid. About 6% of our rural population had covid in the past year. Health dept lists a tally of hospitalizations Over the past year.
In our state over the past decade about 1000 people die a week from all causes (accidents, cancer, pneumonia, murder and others) 52,000 people die in Wi a year. Health dept combines pneumonia, flu, respiratory together. So as time goes by we will learn more about this virus and the impact. Right now I would say it is always on the news. I pray people can focus on hope, care about one another and be kind.
Wear a mask if possible, be kind to those who can’t, show love as best as we can! Stay healthy!
A mask is good but it is better to avoid crowds. Shop small businesses! They need our support

My husband and I both had this earlier this year. I am immune-compromised, and we were extremely careful. I have barely left the house or had contact with anyone outside of him and my children all year. He wears a mask, sanitizes, etc when he comes and goes. Terry got a lot of hate and bullshit for us canceling shows and closing our facility to the public. Despite the precautions, we both had it. I was on oxygen for over a week. Every illness hits me 5 times harder than it would a healthy individual. For our kids, it was just a cold. But they have no idea how close they came to losing one or both of their parents this year.

Our oldest is 11, our youngest just turned 5. People like me are the reason for mask mandates.

@EmtheFishLady Sorry that you and Terry and family had to deal with this. One of my best friends had a 'cold' nothing more than that for several weeks. One night things exploded and he ended up in ICU Covid positive with inflamed heart mimicking a heart attack. He recovered and was out of the hospital in less than a week. Doctors told him that he was 'one of the lucky ones.' He said he would not wish it on anyone.

I hope, whatever your misgivings about testing, that you'll isolate from those you live with until you're sure it's not Covid.

Meanwhile, I hope it turns out not to be and that you'll feel fine soon!
It's not that I am afraid to get tested, it's that we are running out of tests, so unless you are severally ill they are not testing or if I don't feel better in 5 days then they will test. And yes I am isolating and being safe.
