Contact tracing takes lots of people to do it, and it's almost futile in many areas of the USA right now because the infection rate is so high. Not a good situation, so true.

I understood it was just one of the tools in the toolbox. It sure did work within our local schools. When they were able to do it I mean.
And I don't disagree about how much resources are needed, nor the difficulty. It might not be helpful in all areas, but it helped here for quite a while.

Contact tracing is essential, and right now just isn't happening most places. For the reasons I mentioned, going back to the miserable response to this pandemic in the USA generally.

I'm sorry if they're not doing it in your area or not doing it well, but my husband uses it in his company. They've been together for about 14 weeks now. Some of them work in VERY close proximity. They test and when they get a positive (still less than a dozen) they contact trace and isolate. They STILL haven't had an infection transmitted from one worker to another.

Check out the stats in Canada. The US has had 17,400,000 cases and 314,500 deaths (rounded) total to date or 52,500 per M cases and 1000 per M deaths. Canada has had 481,600 cases and 13,800 deaths (rounded) to date or 12,700 per M and 360 per M respectively. The difference with comparable education and economic levels is staggering and the result of a vigorous public health system AND robust contact tracing.

Meanwhile, my hair is reaching a style I haven't had since college. One hair cut, by a friend, since February! Haven't had no bangs and longer locks for that long, and so far it's not too bad. By the time I put that face mask on, and dash through essential shopping, who cares?!

Don't give 'em an enameled pan to bang. Those lovely blue speckles splinter off in big, beautiful flakes. Not that I would actually know that ... just speculating for a friend (and so my Mom doesn't know who gave the kids the good mini-roaster to bang that New Years Eve many, many moons ago ...)
