Why would you have a general contractor in your house? During the pandemic?
I see, yep sometimes you have to pick the lesser of two evils. My washing machine broke. It was close to 20yo. Couldn't even get parts anymore. In the intervening time, laundry machines have gotten significantly bigger. We couldn't get a machine that would fit in our laundry room. I've had to have the gas and water plumbing moved to another wall and have all the cabinets moved so I could get machines in there now.
No. Way. was I going to spend a day every week with perfect strangers in a laundromat! A month -- and an ENORMOUS pile of dirty clothes -- later, the machines just left S. Korea last Sunday.
I love that one! I discovered it recently too. Great story!!A story I just re-read from Twitter....

Bless your heart. I can relate. Brought my little sis home to pass. She passed in May. I keep seeing things I would have bought her. I put a big photo of her out in the living room for this morning. I've been listening to messages she had left on my phone. Sour is right. So many feeling loss this year. So many. I'm so sorry for yours. I know your pain. Prayers for you.I am very, very sad tonight. My heart is just not in the Holiday. We're still dealing with losing my Dad. Pre-Covid, we would have just been getting home from his house about an hour ago. At this moment, I should be setting out Christmas gifts, but despite ordering them well ahead of time (well over a month ago) the three major ones are stuck in Post Offices - two just over an hour away. They're been there for three weeks! I have a few little things, but I've been unemployed most of the year, since Covid shut down the schools. I was counting on the one "nice" item for each.
I know gifts aren't the main focus, but there are no church services, either. I NEED that family, right now.
Wow. As I typed this, the radio just played Ave Maria, my father's favorite hymn, followed by the hymn version of The Lord's Prayer. I guess it's going to be all right, after all. Good Night, All, and Merry Christmas.
Everything has to be weighed and planned carefully. EVERYTHING, whether it's a trip out for food and medicine or getting essential services done so you can live in your home. Yes, every outside contact is potentially dangerous, but at the same time, Life and needs continue. If we are careful, thoughtful and proactive, most things are do-able, at least in part.Isn't this what you want everyone not to do?
