Good morning. We are positive for Covid. DH is coughing pretty good but has no fever. I have headache, body ache and fever (100.0), but not much coughing. Very tired, low energy. House arrest coninues for another week. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse than this!
Oh No!!

Sorry to hear that! Like the others I'm sending hope and encouragement! So many people, even high risk ones, just get the cruddies (for lack of better term) and get to ride it out ok at home.
I hope you get well sooner than later! LOTS of rest. When I push it and do more than I should, I pay the price!
You too! I'm glad things are starting to get better for you.
Can you cut access breaks in poultry netting? I'm getting mixed info on that. No one around here uses it, so I don't have any guidance other than the manufacturer ... who just wants to sell me the fence!
My coop and run are pretty small and very irregular in shape. Access to the multiple levels and the divided run are widely separated. To get to each of the three doors and all of the cleanouts, we'd need multiple breaks in the fence - at least six. That means either cutting the fence into really short sections or making a perimeter pen so wide that foxes could easily jump it ... or come over the garage roof ... the little schmidt!
I also got mine through Premier 1 on sale. I didn't consult with them, but they have tons of info on their site. I don't see why you would not be able to configure entries. Be it through several shorter sections that you can connect together with some similar wires (easily found online or through TSC) or by figuring out how to cut and tie the ends so they don't come off the little poles.
As long as something is connecting the various strands in a single pen to transfer electricity, one section (pen) can be connected to another with a simple connector wire. So long as your base electric supply box is strong enough to handle the total lengths cpmbined. The grounding rod(s) is situated at the supply box so you only need a few and only in one place.

The horizontal wires are the hot ones, and just like a typical electric multi strand fence any conductive material/wire connecting the strands will supply the lines with zap.
My equines have a 3 strand temp pasture with taller step in posts and three strands of hot polywire. I use short sections of polywire or bare heavier gauge wire to connect the levels.

I'll come back in a bit and link/post pics of the inexpensive supplies I used. Many I already had on hand.

I was told no by our manufacturer, but it's a circuit, right? It would take some significant doing (you'd have to rewore the ends to make sure the circuit is completed, have a different energizer for each section, etc.), but you might be able to. Where'd you order from? I ordered from Premier 1, and they have been soooo helpful. I can call them anytime with questions. We have a local farm supply store that supplies our energizer. They are more than happy to help, too.
I was told the same thing - no cutting, just double it back on itself (like a switchback, not touching) if you have too much. As far as reworking it goes, I am not an electrician and I do not trust "rigged" electrical outlets ... especially not in a 100 year old house. I've already lost a refrigerator to a blown circuit. I'd rather not lose the coop and garage to a fire. Our farm store staff was very helpful - and also advised us not to try cut-and-paste on poultry netting unless I really knew what I was doing. Ummm ... Nope!

That's rough. I'm so sorry, but at least you know. And remember, House Arrest isn't really pre-determined. You have to be a couple of days past the fever before you can even think about heading out and about, and that can vary for different people. DS was ready to break out of quarantine almost a week before me, and he was only two days behind me in symptoms. Pay attention to what your bodies tell you - and take advantage of the time to just rest.

In other words, "Don't let the horror stories intimidate you." If you put on your "Dr. Mom" hat and use what you already know about treating illness and keeping your kids (and yourself) comfortable, you'll get through this. The only real difference is that the virus "feels" different from what we're used to, and that's scary. I'm not trying to minimize it, not by a long shot, but if I'd known then what I know now, I would still have been as sick and miserable, but I wouldn't have been as frightened ... and that would have made healing much smoother!

I've done the equine electric fences, which is why the smaller scale and multiple, linked lines of the poultry netting confuse me.

That is a truly sad thing to read.

I'm sorry you and your family were so sick but thank you for providing what you learned from it so others can be less afraid. It's kind and generous of you!

Think of the entire net as just one strand of electric fence in terms of getting and running electric to it and through it.

In terms of on it's own, think of that single line as a giant hot net. Literally. Same properties, just all interconnected and spread over more area.

Oh, and mine was hooked to my regular electric fence with coated wire, which is charged with a solar charger.
I used this (below) because I needed a way to unhook it when I wanted to open a section to go in the garden area-

You just snip off the coating on the ends and hook it where you want it. It can be buried, handled, left out, ect. I've also coated regular 14 gauge wire with electrical tape for a make shift "handle"
