I. Have. Laundry. Machines. For. The. First. Time. Since. Thanksgiving.

I have never been soooo happy to be doing laundry in my life. I doubt I will ever enjoy it as much again. I have no idea how many loads I've done but I'm about halfway through the accumulated pile. ...not counting all the bedding including the comforters.

I almost feel like a human being again. When the bathroom gets finished and my house is my own private sanctuary again I know I will!

Do yourself a favor and *Now* find the web search facts on you new setup for laundry. Find the troubleshooting sites specific to your model.

one code i've almost got memorized 10 years later now... is the pump clogged.the 6gal. wet/dry shopvac has paid for itself about 5 times over at this point. Items that have gotten sucked into the drain hose that goes to the pump:
1) those cute little socks that stop at the top of tennies
2) the foam pad inserts on sports bras
3) bobbypins
4) lollipop stick
5) dog / kid / wife "long hair" (about the time I think I might have long enough hair to qualify here... I get told to get the McDreamy cut again.)
6) vomit/ dog food chunks
7) gravel
unscrewing the cap and sucking up the water slowly as i unscrew it about 1/2 way will take about 5 minutes (so it doesn't spill onto the tile floor) at which point the cap comes off and i see the offending party or multiple items. put the tiny funnel tip on the hose, suck up all the residues and stuff in the back of the pump chamber and its good to go. Screw it back together. and its 100% ready to go again.

bought the front loader in 2008
replaced the rubber seal- o-ring thingy that the door seals against 3 or 4 times so far
replaced the pump 2 times
replaced the cold and hot shut off solenoids 1 time each... about 2 years apart
replaced the water supply hoses 1 time so far

by doing this research now, while its brand new to you, the bookmark folder should have model & part numbers and serial numbers as well as possible items you can "Save to a wish list folder in Amazon" for when the warranty runs out in 2-4 years. Being this prepared for all your appliances is also a serious anxiety reducing reality too.

When I realized back in 2009 when we had the warranty repair folks out for the washer and I asked many questions, they shared a flood of really fascinating data. For example, the electric clothes dryer: the main parts design have not changed in over 50 years. the heating element coils on the non-conductive plate, the solenoids, and switches, drum, spinning motor, V-belt and wires. I have actually geeked out over the last 20 years and disassembled several dryers and other appliances enough to know the tech was sincerely correct. It is funny.

So enjoy your new "home toys" you may even learn of easter eggs or "Maker tweaks" in the years to come to help ya out.

electrycmonk, you sound FAR more resourceful than I am. Besides, I don't imagine we'll be in this house more than another couple years. Someone else can download the codes when they're their laundry machines. :lau

But thanks. The right person probably could have saved a lot of money and time based on your advice.

fair enough.
BTW this advice applies to pretty much anything you own now or in the future. Be it a vehicle, animal, widget or an electronic device. I've got 4 or 5 pages of "Saved threads" in this forum alone on topics from lessons learned... the hard way. And a few that were tidbits I happened across by - I forgot how in a couple situations... I even discovered how to "Bookmark" some specific posts in threads in here too. I only have 1 page of these though.... currently. (sheepish grin)

Over the last 11 years in a vehicle forum I have slowly gathered over 150 "saved threads" for all sorts of tweaks or Mod's or safety tidbits etal....
