Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

It was never taken away. I'm sorry you feel that way.
This thread was very friendly and very pleasant, until a few people came in here and started arguing with us.

You have constantly asked us to be "kind," but the people you are allied with and support are not kind. They are the ones who came in here spouting nonsense.

You might not like it, but some of the older posters on this thread have scientific training of one sort or the other.

It's snowing today, and then colder for the next week or so. More normal January weather, it's been mild until now. And almost February! More daylight, and short month, all good.
I haven't let the chickens out yet, and doubt that they want to play in the snow right now. Pretty to look at, from inside.
Time to make soup!
Mary
Here, it's a cloudy morning. The chickens wake up more slowly than in bright sunny weather.

I dont understand how anyone having a different opinion is creating conflict. Please allow others the opportunity to choose for themselves.

Hcq is best as an early treatment and preventative. The study in the lancet that saidmit was not a good drug was retracted from the lancet. That rarely happens.

"HCQ has been heavily politicized but seriously debunked scientifically and may actually make things worse. FDA banned it's use for Coronavirus for not improving recovery and causing frequent complications."

This is actually totally false. Firstly, the reason HCQ is shown to be effective as it is an IONOPHORE which has the property of binding ions and in this role in the body to combat Covid19, what it does is draw Zinc into the human cell which help to stop the virus from replicating. Other chemicals that work this way include: Quinine (a naturally occurring product which HCQ is a chemical replica of), Quercetin, and others.

Second, HCQ is a product that has been used for decades in areas where malaria is common and people take it all their life as a precaution against catching it. It is one of the safest medications in the world. It replaced Quinine for that purpose when enough Quinine was unable to be found to meet the need. This is not to say that SOME people may have a bad reaction to it or have complications from it. All medication has some frequency of causing new problems, that goes w the territory and is not a reason to discard the use of the product unless the % of people experiencing negative side effects reaches some threshold where it can be deemed more dangerous than helpful.

Third HCQ was heavily politicized by people on the same side of the argument who claim its usefulness was "seriously debunked" or that is use may "make things worse". How convenient to be part of the discussion when you get to create the problem ("HCQ should not be used because Trump likes it!") and then have control of how the problem will be solved ("We will tell everyone that its use is debunked and that it's dangerous and that will be the only information anyone gets to hear.")

No one should have an expectation that anyone in the media is telling the truth about anything these days. They are the enemy of the people.
Thank you for sharing what many of us know is the truth about HCQ!!

Chloroquine is still the main treatment for Plasmodium vivax malaria. This is "mild tertian malaria."

However, because we're so interested in chloroquine here, I present to you work regarding incipient Plasmodium vivax resistance to chloroquine in South America.

A more serious type of malaria infection is caused by Plasmodium falciparum. This parasite can cause cerebral malaria with deadly consequences. Most populations of P. falciparum in Africa and Asia are now resistant to chloroquine which is why artemesinin-based combination therapies (ACT) are widely used against malaria in areas with a lot of P. falciparum.

There are species of malaria parasites that infect birds, including chickens.

Oh, by the way, are scientists the Enemy of the People, too? ;-) ;-)

Every option is worth trying while waiting for the vaccine. What works for one may not work for another and vise versa but it doesn't hurt to try when there is nothing else available right now for many people
