In case anyone who understands the literature wants to read the research on it. Almost all COVID studies are public right now and able to be found with a google search or following citation links in news articles. (I really hope your news comes from somewhere with citations.)

I appreciate you sharing these with us CM, they’re very helpful!

I've heard no one say not to wear masks or not to get vaccinated. I have heard some say they do wear masks and some say they don't. I heard some say they will get vaccinated and some say they don't feel the need. What else I have heard is some vehemently chastising others for not having the same convictions that they have and that is absolutely not ok. Each and everyone of us is entitled to our own feelings and convictions whether anyone likes it or not, its called our first ammendment right. So although you may not agree with another person's views they are entitled to have them. I think that fact has been lost here and it is a shame.

reading the links , more all the research was based on others finds and assumptions were made and things were uncertain. They are still guessing and have flip flopped more than once. I'm sure they are doing the best they can but that's not the assumptions of many others in the field.

Those kinds of remarks remind me of 7th grade mean girls, I think as adults we can do better

Ok, sure.
Asymptomatic spread of coronavirus is about 20% with presymptomatic spread being up to 60% of all cases.
Which means upwards of 80% of cases are spread by people who don't even know that they're sick.
There have been countless studies done showing mask wearing reduces viral spread on average at 80% when complied with by wearing a properly fitted surgical quality or multi layer mask. Even imperfect compliance produces around 50% reduction in spread.

Those people are putting lives at risk by not wearing a mask. They're going out in public and putting lives at risk. As a public health risk they need to be regulated, like all public health risks. This is a position that ahs been applied to medical contagion situations for over 100 years. In 1918 face masks were optional, until they instituted a fee of approximate $97 (adjusted for inflation) for lack of compliance. They also had forced quarantines. These measures have been implemented as recently as the 2014 Ebola crisis, including movement restrictions, forced quarantine, masking, isolation wards and more. These are standard procedure for contagious diseases.

The choice to ignore nearly every piece of evidence does not change the fact that these people are a health risk to the public and should be regulated. I am happy when these people are isolated, both socially for refusing to not be a health risk and legally in their own homes for their non compliance. These rules keep us safer and selfish desires should not influence that.

Personal choice ends when someone elses wellbeing begins.

Is that better?

Why? Because it's exhausting trying to explain reality to ya'll.

Respectfully, I think you unfairly lumped together many different points of view. It's entirely possible for an individual to embrace some of those views and not others. You can be pro-vaxx generally and not confident in these vaccines, specifically. You can understand the mechanics of how masks and respirators function without believing the government should force people to wear them. You can acknowledge the seriousness of COVID-19 without holding other people responsible for your own individual health and safety.

I for sure feel you are entitled to your convictions, I also believe that if the powers in charge thought it was needed there would be mask mandates and complete lockdowns everywhere, but I don't see that. Everyone should do everything they feel is necessary to stay safe during this pandemic. What I dont believe is that it is my place to tell you what that should look like for you.
