I am only using hand sanitizer outside my home--it kills my skin. I wash hands often at home--use hot water and regular soap

Me, too, but even just the post-grocery store runs and occasional sanitizer use in the kitchen dries my hands out. Of the many, many things to look forward to post-pandemic, not needing to use hand sanitizer is one of them.

But seriously, soap is just as effective and not as hard on your skin. Plus, the more we use anti-bacterial products, the stronger the bacteria becomes in response (on a massive scale of use, not just one person). I DO use hand sanitizer when soap is not available, for sure; like at the grocery store or out and about driving from place to place.

In anything other than cooking, Alton Brown has almost no credibility with me. So, no, I don't really know about different versions or whatever. With regard to duration of hand washing and temperature of water, I think this article is informative:

Although it was written before the new strains developed, so if those are somehow more vulnerable to different water temperatures, it wouldn't address that. I've not heard of that, though.

Food prep places have to follow sanitation guidelines to prevent spreading germs like e coli salmonella and such. Hand washing is one of the things they are tested on.
Shortly after being installed At work, we had to take out water saving faucets in the bathroom closest to the cafeteria. We figured they could use the bathroom for the food service people or wash in the hand sinks in the food prep area.. nope...The health department had a fit because they were close and shut off 20 seconds after pushed.... eventually went with touchless that failed regularly

I've been a l-o-n-g time fan of plain ole ivory soap. Have not been a fan of the fad for anti-bac soaps... That napahm the natural biome(sp) of our surface layer of skin. The natural defenses are nuked by that soap.

Wow... 30-45 seconds? Did the chef recommend using hand sanitizer and hot water on top of that? Guess I'll be spending my stimulus check on hand lotion

Yes, plus I wash before turning my eggs. . Lotion in-between times. Still....

We did it. They have quite a bit in Utah County right now. Because our kids are here to help.. caregivers...they can get theirs on March 1st. The people there were so much fun. Clapping hands that we got it done, joking with us. Really friendly. We did fine.

I got my second vaccine this morning, wonderful! DH had his second last Friday, and zero issues, not even a sore arm. We are delighted, and hope everyone can get vaccinated as soon as possible. If we all need another booster later, that's fine too.
Here we are having 'normal winter', cold and some snow. Feeling bad for all the zillions of folks who are having the same weather, and especially for the freezing rain areas. Stay home! Stay safe, and keep warm.

Yay on being done with the vaccine. Hope we do ok after the second one too. And, this weather! I'm hearing how bad it is in some states. Utah usually gets a whole lot more than we've gotten this year, but thankfully we are getting some the past few days, and today.

Just received a call from the vaccination center. Due to predicted icing tomorrow we have been rescheduled to 1:30 PM on Wed.
