Count and thank your lucky stars(parents?) to be able to afford that kind of care.
Some folks can't pay their rent, buy food and/or critical medicines.
Most of use are dealing with the psychological ramifications of lack of physical closeness/contacts.
I am super thankful for my parents. They help me and my brother as much as they can. I don't know how I could ever live one day knowing they aren't around anymore

Thanks for the perspective Beer Can, it sheds some light on why some people work no matter what.
I’m sorry you had a terrible mother, but if not for her you wouldn’t be here. You seem to be a pretty decent person who truly loves their family. In your case the apple rolled far away from the maternal tree.
I just hope we humans just try to be better. Doesn't seem so sometimes but things have been. Just have to appreciate every day life has gave us. IMHO having a positive attitude is the best medicine.

I don't think it will 'save us'...but feel this virus is serious enough to participate,
same reason I wear a mask and curb/distance physical interactions.
I've never had a flu nor shingles shot, never vaccinated my chicks...
....but I did get a tetanus shot after being bitten by a dog.
I've had a tetanus shot or two, kinda accident prone. Funniest one just had a argument with DW, went outside. I wear a lot kinda crocks but more like flip flops but open sandal rubber things. Tripped over a piece of wood by our log splitter.... Hobbled back inside and asked DW if she'd pull a splinter out of my foot. She had a few choice words for me until she finally came out and saw it, said OMG, a splinter?!!
Bout foot long drove halfway through my foot just between big and second toe. Pulled a piece of meat out with it lol, didn't bleed much hurt like heck but no big deal. She made me go get a tetanus shot.

What deeply saddens me (among many things) about this virus is the blatant ignorance and selfishness of people. If they could fit a microchip into that vaccine, your phone would be a LOT smaller. Going into Target recently with a friend, she was reluctant to put on a mask that barely covered her mouth and nose- I had to ask her to put a mask on. She constantly refers to COVID as the "fancy flu," how it's fake, not a big deal, brags about indoor maskless sleepovers, etc. Whenever she says this stuff, I'm floored. Okay, go tell my immunocompromised father and brother that it's not a big deal if they get this virus that would likely kill them. Go tell the families of the nearly 3 million dead COVID victims that it's fake.
A way to get inside your friend's head may be to suggest to her that there may be people taking advantage of an actual disease for their own nefarious reasons. Regardless of how you believe it may give her food for thought.
As I may have said here before, " If they don't like a mask, they are going to HATE the ventilator.

@ those who are vaccinated! :drool

Just popping in for a quick venting session. After avoiding this for over a year, we finally had a coworker test positive. Or, actually, her whole family tested positive and everyone is symptomatic, including her, but she tested negative. She’s off work, of course, but the rest of us are expected to keep on trucking.

We’ve all decided to get tested, despite our HM stating that we were at no risk, which is stupid as we’ve had the UK variant in the area and we all had a long meeting with the person present, a meeting during which there was food, so masks were temporarily off. That, and we all work together for hours at a time anyways.

The masks we’ve been provided with and are expected to use at work are cheap “not for medical use” craptastic masks.

I’m just angry that HM thinks there’s nothing to worry about. I’m also tired. We’ve worked straight through this as “essentials” without the benefit of hazard pay or early vaccinations. Our work has increased to an almost unmanageable level, but we keep on going.

Now, I love what I do. However, don’t tell me that none of us have been exposed. Getting tested for the first time tonight. Wish me luck!

Also, those darn Covid symptoms are so broadly defined at this point that of course I have “symptoms”. Those “symptoms” are also the same as allergies ad not getting enough sleep! Anyhoo, thanks for letting me rant!

Edited to add: A couple of coworkers were just about to get vaccinated, and my group becomes eligible in 1 week!
