I treated my flock for worms about 4 months ago. I was looking at the dose information here in the forum and I think I must be confused about the correct dose. It is suggested 0.25ml per pound once a day for 5 days for most worms. If that dose is correct, I must have under dosed them. The dose for a 6lb chicken would be 1.5ml if that's true. That would be the whole 1ml syringe and 1/2. That seems like a lot. My 1ml syringe (shown here). Is that correct? I'm very confused.

That is correct. Just put .5ml at a time in the beak and let them swallow it, repeat til the entire dose is given. If you want a medication that is very effective against most worms and uses a smaller volume in the dose, you can get Valbazen wormer (labeled for cattle), online. Dose for Valbazen for a 6 lb chicken would be .5 ml, two doses 10 days apart. Math for dosing is (weight in lbs / 2.2 X 20mg / 113.6). Most people just dose standard sized birds the .5 ml.
I use it all the time, it's a great wormer.

I have the safe-guard here so if I can I’d like to use it. But so am I right, a 6lb bird would get the whole 1ml syringe and a half once a day for 5 days?

That is correct. If you KNOW that you are treating for roundworm only, you can do that dose twice, 10 days apart. Other worms take the 5 days in a row dosing to be effective. So if you don't know what parasite you are treating for, then you need to do the 5 days in a row. It is a larger volume, but it is the correct dose for that medication. I use that one as well.

Thanks so much. I must have had a brain fart back in December. I only gave 0.15 once daily for 5 days.

It likely did no harm, but under dosing can potentially lead to medication resistant parasites. One time might not be enough for that to happen. I would definitely make sure you give the correct dose going forward. You might consider getting a fecal done if you can (a mixed sample of fresh droppings from your flock) after treatment is complete, to make sure it was effective, especially if you are still seeing signs or symptoms.
