Just curious, but what brand of feed was this??I got a hundred pound bag of layer in Lancaster pa for 24 which beat out agway layer feed which cost me 16 for a fifty pound bad
I'm in the same boat. Purina is about the only brand available in this area. Can't believe the prices! With winter coming, just can't afford the feed anymore. I really need to get down to just 6 or so chickens, but oh, so hard to cull! Hate just to compost some of the girls, but no one will even take them for free and not enough meat on them to make processing worth while. Hoping to hold on for a few more weeks until they are done molting and then just keep the ones that start laying immediately. Since I have a mixed flock, are there certain breeds that have longer laying lives than others?Near $20 @ 50lbs Purina Flock Raiser
$16+ @ 50lbs Purina Brand Scratch Grains
$20 @ 50lbs Purina Layena
... Don't know about ya'll, but there's GOTTA be a better way! It's costing me a fortune and I don't even have that many birds! They eat and eat and eat and eat....I could go on forever...!![]()
