cottage coop

I wanted to share the coop my husband made for us. It is almost complete. The coop is 5’ X 8’ with a 3-foot porch. The run is 8 x12 with a roof. It has an automatic chicken door between the coop and run. We still need to make nesting boxes, flooring for the porch and some pretty landscaping. I keep water in the coop and food and water in the run. It’s pretty hot in Boise now so I have aluminum shade cloth on two sides of the run. Even though we have trees, the sun really heats everything up. The coop is near the house and it looks great! I’m very pleased. I have 6 pullets that are about 3 months old. I let them out of the run when I’m near to keep and eye on them.[/ATTACH]

Super cute and a good amount of space for 6. It really looks like a cabin in the woods at first glance. Also good job in prioritizing shade over building nest boxes that they won't use quite yet.

I know. Right.. I love that he used the dead wood for the post and trim.
