Coturnix and cabbage

they said suet HOLDER..... i don't think that suet would be at all good for your quail .

i give my coturnix apples, greens and broccoli which are all very nutritious . Also occasional mealworms or regular worms as a special protein treat...

I offered various greens to my quail to see what they would eat. Most things they ignored, but they do like clover. One thing they went nuts for are thawed out frozen peas. I was putting a few in my hand and offering it to them. My bravest quail roo took one from my hand and then started making the "Hey baby!!!" call. He gave one of the hens the pea and then jumped her

I guess that is normal quail behavior....bribing the hens with good food.

Once they all figured out that peas were good the hand feeding thing DID NOT WORK anymore. Before I could get my hand down, Lucy Lu and Cricket were jumping AT ME trying to get to the peas first. Kieko tried to scratch my hand to death and the roos would start brawling. INSANE!!

So now I just toss a small handful in and let them work it out
