I woke up this morning (day 14) and was going to lockdown the bator and take out the turner...

I heard peeping but thought it was just the 4 chicken chicks that hatched 2 weeks ago...

I left the room and heard it again...then went back and 1 of the quail hatched and was hidding under the turner rack!

SO I quickly took out the turner, put the eggs back, and added water and went into lockdown!

This is my first quail hatch, should i have lockedown earlier? days 12?

I was out of town until last night.

Pics coming soon!

If it is only day 14 and you're sure it's day 14, no you shouldn't have gone into lock down sooner. That egg must have begun to develop earlier somehow. If they were stored in a warm place prior to placing in the incubator or your incubator was running too hot you can have early hatches but that is really early!

and others have pipped...

These are eggs from my own quail here at my house...some did sit for about 12 days will i was collecting...they were stored inside though at like 60 degrees...

my coturnix hatched out yesterday. That was day 18. If you had a hatch that early from what i have heard that is very early! I went on lockdown on day 15. congrats on your hatch. It is like a really, really, really, really bad drug habit. On hatch and you are hooked on hatching for life. There is no cure and thankfully no therapy!!

3 of about 50 eggs have hatched...not many...

But a few more have pipped and it is only day 14....

well see what happens over the next few days.

Sneeky birds must have had some eggs hid from you sitting for a few days. I didn't know they sat on them like that. Very cool!

maybe... i cant think of any other reason for that... lets hope they all hatch over the next few days !

Most Common Cause Of Early Hatch In A Temp Thats Just A Tad Too Warm--- They'll Pop Out Early Everytime---- Not To Worry It Wont Hurt Them Any
