I have candled all the cortunix eggs that I have gotten, they were fairly simple. I couldn't see much, but enough to tell if they were clear or not. Could see the veins on a lot of them as well. As for buttons, impossible, I wouldn't even try!

i agree coturnix are worth a shot to candle...the ones with minimal spots are the easiest...can see viens and in the lightest eggs even eyeballs and movement!

Button quail eggs get this Shelley, my first ever batch of eggs was like 7 bq eggs froma local breeder, I was able to candle all but like 2 eggs...they were a very very light blue! When everyone was acting suprised on here when i first joined that i was able to see in i ddint understand what the big deal was it was easy to me! THEN....after that batch...my own bq hen starts laying, and here i am with a big ego thinking *yeah i can successfully candle bq eggs i dunno why no one else can!* and i try to canlde my own hens eggs....ha!!!!! NO go! Couldnt see a darn thing!

Luckily i've never had a bQ egg explode, i have had some dry out tho those are pretty funky they actl ike weeble wobbles in the incy. lol!!!

I do reccomend a small LED pen light for quail eggs....least it works great for me

I have had okay luck with shipped coturnix eggs

now shipped button quail eggs that's another matter....

I have 3 total chicks alive, I hatched 4 (my darn cat killed him he raided the brooder).

Guess how many eggs it took to get those four....

along the lines of 35... *sinks head down in shame* LOL

Coturnix quails, my last shipped batch was 25....I hatched out 14...not bad (least i dont think so).
