ring neck,

they were pecking at ea other it started about 3 or 4 week ago not had any trouble before that. I think I have now got it under control, but there just starting to get there feather back, but I could sell some if some one does not mind letting the feather grow back. there 12 weeks old today, and I will tell you it been fun but I was pulling my hair out on the pecking it seam like nothing was going to work. found out that you have to give them something to play with also have order peeper for the male.

Sed it depends on what you are wanting to do with your quail, do you want them to just breed and lay eggs for you or do you want to just sit and watch them as you would in thier natural type habitat?
My breeders are 5 per pen and the pens are 2x2x1. My flight pen for mature birds is 12x6x32 and I have had 500 in it. I would give them room to fly around, move around something like you'd find them living in in nature, maybe 10x10x6 or larger. But also they would do ok in a smaller pen of 6x6x4 too but then you will get into the pecking problem that every breeder hates but happens.
I have a 4x8x3 pen that I put young birds of 3-5 weeks of age into as sort of a transiton pen until they are old enough for the flight pen and keep maybe 70 to 100 birds in it for a few weeks until they are big enough not to picked on by the older birds in the flight pen.
if you plan on raising them to sell or breed I'd build a pen bigger than what you think you would ever need, that way you will have plenty of room for them or later use it for something else.

Tenn Farm I just hatch another 200 today,I think I will always have plenty birds.I too would like a pair of Pheasants maybe we could work out a trade of sorts.

Let me know, I work 2 miles from home and can usually be found at home when not at work..

Kingbee- Do you have a 1/4 ratio? I woild like to breed them to sell and for the eggs (and maybe meat). I definitely want to get some. I can take a little road trip one Saturday and pick up some of the 6 week old bids.

Tenn farm- I would like to get some of the pheasants from you also. Just let me know how much you would take for them. Also, what ratio (male/female) do you use to breed them?

Thanks to you both!
