I filled up my Little Giant with over 100 of my own quail eggs. I would have
used my Brinsea but PerfectlyPolish refuses to give it back.

Anyhow, so far we have 6 and they all JUST popped out at the same time.

This is gonna be a fun hatching day!!!

Good for you. Mine always hatched pretty easily and I always got better hatches than when I was hatching chicken eggs. Good luck!

Congrats on the quail eggs. By the way, what do you do with quail?

I have 9 Orp eggs in my hatcher right now- 7 from hinkjc and 2 from my black/white orp crosses. They are due tomorrow. I also have the silkies you gave Pefectly Polish to send to me. I'm waiting to candle for another week or so.

Good luck with your hatch!

Oh man, we got quail from Sam earlier this summer. The eggs are a
delicacy. I haven't eaten any but people are driving me crazy for them.
Quail meat is the best bird I have tasted. They are simple to process
and weigh around 5oz dressed. The breasts are pure meat.

Plus they are just fun, spazzy little things. The males make a super cool
call and quail are much easier to take care of then chicken.

Another thing I've heard is the feed to egg ratio for quail is better than
chickens.

I need to send you some eggs when your bator is empty again.

By the way: i never tried quail meat before i would love to... i just want to hatch out more before i start to try them for meat so i will have left overs..lol

I'm on day 18 with my coturnix quail and one of the bobwhites finally hatched (they have been in a week longer). One pipped last night and never hatched. It hasn't moved in hours though, so I think it died. I keep hoping my coturnix are going to pop out soon. There are about a dozen more eggs in there that appeared viable when I took them off the turner. I need to go get some more heat lamp bulbs though, because the one on my babies in the coop burned out and had to be replaced a few days ago.

Hey there PC hows it goin? I just put 90 cortunix in the bator yesterday. I really like quail as much as chickens. Off topic but I had a theory here. I think the silkies wanted you to sell there evil eggs. See now they are slowly taking over america. Pretty soon they will control our minds and throw us in coops. feeding us scratch and layer feed. Occasional treats and free ranging us. Look what you started!

Mine are laying still because it's been warm here, they live in my barn,
and I keep a light on for them until 11:30 PM. My chickens are still laying
too.

I have at least 100 more of my own eggs and 100 more coming from
Catcobb.

Right now I have 13 adults.

Sam's quail seem to be gentle. You may need to cull those males. A 1 to 5 male/female
ratio is good and even then sometimes the males will fight.

Heather, best of luck with your hatch. They seem to hatch in groups.

Stevie, quail may be more addictive than silkies. Maybe they are in on
the conspiracy.
