I have a 3 month old easter egger and I noticed yesterday she seemed a little slower than the others. This morning she was distancing herself and closing her eyes some, as well as coughing mucus and you can her hear kind of crackle when she breaths.

She is not struggling to breathe or gasping.

I have her distanced from the flock in a protected crate so she can still seem them

I’m not sure if someone pecked her and its a coincidence I saw blood on her beak and cheeks but I doubt that because she coughed on my hand and the mucus was very light brown

I’m not sure if this is Ilt?
I’ve had chickens with respiratory problems before but never like this.
Suggested treatment?

Thankyou in advance ❤️❤️

ILT is possible if she is coughing up or sneezing bloody mucus. They can have gaping and “pump handle breathing.” I haven’t seen it before but chickens with ILT will shake their heads flinging blood around the coop walls. Have you seen any peck marks or blood on the tongue? It is a virus, and antibiotics won’t treat it. Have you added any new birds recently? What symptoms have you seen in the past from respiratory disease? Any sneeze, cough, bubbles or foam in an eye, gasping, or rattles? Hopefully, it isn’t ILT, but a recurrence of what you already have in your flock. If you should lose a bird, taking or shipping the body, kept cold, to your state vet for a necropsy would get answers on what disease you are dealing with.

We added the 3 month olds a month ago but they were raised from dayold chicks and raised by our broody hen, so we were able to move them to the main flock earlier

The blood is very very small amounts (small specks) but enough to show in her mucus up so I’m not sure if its Ilt?
