Coughing for several months

Hi,

I have a hen who has been 'coughing' for several months. One of her flock mates also was coughing around the time I noticed her first cough, but has since stopped. Just this one hen has been continually 'coughing'.

She is still eating and drinking and laying eggs daily. She's on the bottom of the pecking order and always has been, and she's easily scared and startled. She seems energetic.

Her breath kind of sounds a little wet. I think she might just be allergic to the straw I'm using as their bedding? I feel like a more serious disease would have killed her or spread to the other chickens by now.

VetRX seemingly didn't help, but I still have some and can try again. Otherwise, do you think I need to do anything? She seems mostly fine, just a chronic cough.

Thanks for any insight.

I would toss the bottle of VetRX. It doesn't cure anything.
Is the straw moldy or dusty? I use it in next boxes because I can easily remove it should it become soiled but do not use it for bedding.
She may still have CRD. I would try a course of Tylan50 and see if that helps her. The dose for a 5 pound hen would be 1.1 mls twice a day for 5 days. I can be squirted into a piece of bread then fed to the hen. Remove her from the flock to feed her the bread so no one steals it.
I've dose liquid wormers this way. For a twice a day treatment, the easiest way to catch her is to get to the coop before the birds come off the roost. Remove her, dose her and put her back with the flock. Do this again when they go back to roost for the night.
