coughing peacock..?

Thats exactly what my BS chick was doing befor we put her on the Tylan 50! Now its just a small sneeze. Even when she was sleeping she had her beak open and I listened to her chest and it was really congested but sounds clear now. I would try the Tylan 50 at .23 cc twice a day and see if she improves.

I 'think' you were replying to my post? The chick in question and I have a second that is not as bad, had clear lungs when the vet listened to her through a stethoscope and I have given her three shots of Baytril and it made no difference.

Question for the hive mind; I have been thinking of bringing both of those chicks into the garage and put them in a large Parrot cage and try the Baytril again. They weigh 1100 and 1500 gm. My concern is that they are acclimated to the cold right now and it is predicted to get into single digits for the next two nights. If I bring them in to an unheated garage for treatment how hard will it be on them when returning them to the cold cruel world?

Could you keep them in the garage for treatment, then a few days more on probiotics? Baytril is such a powerful drug that I'd be worried that you'd put the back out there and withh all the good bacteria gone, they be susceptible to something else. Just thinking out loud...

I had tryed baytril prior to the Tylan and it made no difference. The Tylan did the job. As far as taking them out of the cold to treat them i think its a great idea and I did the same but I brought her inside my house and kept her at 80-85 degrees. I was worried about putting my peachick out in the cold because it was warm when I brought her in so im not sure how well they will do if their not used to it. Im going to keep her inside until spring

How much Baytril did you give? And did you give it orally, by injection or in the water?
