I have a broody Muscovy and Im getting ready to purchase a dozen eggs to hatch. The problem is my incubator only holds 7 eggs so I was wondering if the broody could hatch the rest. Do you think she would be too big for the Serama eggs and break them? Do you think shed even try to hatch them?

I wouldn't think that would be successful do you have any other broodys or friends who could help you? Good luck with your hatch

Duck eggs shells are much stronger and thicker than chicken eggs. Chicken eggs can't withstand being stepped on by ducks. Ducks are clumsy little things.

I gave my Muscovy hen some fertile barnyard mix chicken eggs last year when she would NOT give up on being broody. I don't have drakes anymore and wasn't in the mind to purchase fertile 'Scovy eggs at the time...which are now something on my potential hatch list this year.;)

Long story short, 'Scovies are not successful surrogates. They are too wet and too heavy for chicken eggs. She smashed every single one unintentionally at various stages. Poor girl waddled around heartbroken and mad at the world for days!

You could try putting them in something to protect them that she couldn't crush and then fill it with tiny pieces of straw so that they don't move around inside it, there's a YouTube channel called a chick called Albert and the guy does that to some quail eggs but it was for a chicken so it might not work but it's just an idea
