Just thinking out-loud and of course I would never put it on an unabsorbed yolk, but maybe, key word "maybe" I would *think* about it for one that looked raw (if that's the right word).Ok so your compairing a Horse with a Water Fowl??? LOL

I like Blue kote also but I agree it wouldn't be a good idea to use it on a newly hatched duckling. I had always read to use betadine mixed with water to look like weak tea. But I will say I have never had to treat a duckling with a yolk sac unabsorbed, I did have to treat my 2 day old duckling from a leg injury when the snake pulled it through the fencing, I did use betadine/water on that injury. I would tell anyone to go by what you say Lacrystol since you are experienced with hatching in bators.

When I found the snake wrapped around my duckling I grabbed it up and first unwrapped it [I just knew that poor thing was dead from being squeezed] then I slammed the snake against the feeder house I'm sure it was dead after that I threw it over the fence. I'm not a violent person and usually just carry blk snakes off if I find one inside one of the coops but oh my goodness that really got the adrenalin going. That little thing had a pretty nasty wound on it's lil leg I brought it inside and cleaning it up good put it into a dog crate with heat lamp and waited for a while before messing with it again, but it bounced back so well the next day I took it and gave it back to it's mama, I used Veterycin on it leg after initial cleaning. Thats another product i wouldn't be without. and sorry I got off tract from op thread.AW THATS REALLY SWEET OF YOU THANK YOU!!!!
Oh that's horrible about the nasty snake but what works quite well for legs is vitamin b complete. One pill per quart. Works fast and great. I had a Cochin that was hatched out with one leg behind him, you would think he had mareks disease they way he would drag his foot. I made him a bouncy chair gave him vitamin b within 24 hours he was out of his bouncy chair and walking around on that leg.
Did you chop that snakes head off. Lol
Yay!!!Another is pipping!!! Fingers crossed >.<
