could be pipping!

Another is pipping, since yesterday. There's a hole this morning. Taking it's time. My sisters' friends' mother has a little farm that some will go to if they don't find homes. It's not exactly easy rehoming ducks like it is cats and dogs.... ducks need love too! ^_^

Yes they do, so I hope these lil ones find great homes and never end up dumped at some park pond or river, all the best in finding homes for them and look forward to hearing about the one pipping now.

The other came out not long after I got home today. It seems weak though. Its breathing, but doesn't peep too much or flail around like the others after being outta the shell. Hopefully its ok... giving it time to relax in the bator, and I peep at it a bit to kinda stimulate it to do the same and move around.

It's hard work getting out of those shell's hopefully it just needs a bit of rest.

Its doing great now! Nice and fluffy and active. The others huddle up together to keep warm and he picks a cozy spot with them. Its so cute!

Now we have 3 left. But it appears that only one is moving :/ we've lost a total of 6 so far, if we lose the 3 that's left, it would be a 50% hatch :/ I had 18 altogether and 9 hatched... hope all goes well!!!

Lulu, my girl that sits on the nest, has accidentally broken about 3 of her eggs, eh heh... but there's 21 in there now. When I come to let them out and refill food and water, she's the last one out the pen. She quacks funny and has her head scrunched down and feathers ruffled. It's like she's really "to herself" with how she postures her body. She's not mean at all, but she does seem concerned. Although, she does leave the nest after she covers it up. It's really cute how she is ^_^ I love my duckies! Especially my boy sprout, he's my bud. Tehe!

Happy to hear it's perked up and you could put it in with the rest and they haven't picked on it being it's so young? that's amazing. Hope the rest hatch.

Do you think she'll be able to keep most of the ducklings warm when they hatch, She'd have to be pretty big to be able to keep 21 warm, but probably that many wouldn't hatch anyway. I love all 4 of my drakes they have so much personality. Do you have any idea when hatch day is?

50% is actually not too bad, especially for crested ducklings. Next time, it might be better.

But, in general, large nests do not hatch or hatch very few. So, I doubt that the 21 eggs will hatch. But, if you get four or five, that would be pretty good.
