Could he be a barred rock or ...?

View attachment 1473630 Red sex link pullet, right?
She is probably a production red. Which is a RIR over New Hampshire. It isn't sex linked, but it is still a hybrid that will have hybrid vigor (superior laying ability).

This is a red sex link. They go by many names, as varied as the hatcheries that produce them. Golden comet, ISA Brown, Cinnamon Queen, Etc. They are all from a Red based rooster over a recessive white hen.

Yes. He does have red ear lobes. Do leghorns not?
Correct; Leghorns have white ear lobes. :) I guess it's possible he could be a RSL as the others suggested; I just wasn't going to mention that because he didn't quite look like any color/pattern of that breed I'd seen before. But, being hybrids, I know the pattern isn't standard. :)
I just thought of something, there might be a possible chance of your first rooster being a Swedish Flower Hen, but I suppose he's probably not. His unique assortment of coloring does make me think of one of those, though! :D
