Could this have been the notorious squat?

Ive debated buying from meyers, they look like real nice quality hatchery birds
I would recommend them. The only thing that I could complain about is out of the 10 chicks, 2 were cockerels. They arrived fast and they were huge chicks! I know they were day olds because they still had their egg tooth. Very healthy chicks. Never had any problems with them. So far (knock on wood)

I'll keep them in mind, I usually get mine from cackle hatchery. Their silver laced were nice chickens but lanky. I got golden black laced back in 2012 and the rooster was really huge with good lacing. But that was 6 years ago, so no telling what the line looks like now.

Maybe that pic is older cause none of those birds look 'red' enough to be close.
Just so you know, squatting can happen a few weeks before laying...or maybe she'll pop one out tomorrow!

That pic is current. That's what I was thinking. Combs are still dry looking. Thanks for article. Great information! At least I know they are getting closer. It started feeling like they would never get to this point lol
