Hi. I’m Teresa and a new chick Mom. I had planned to get a few chicks from a friend and my daughter in law in a few weeks so I stopped by the local Tractor Supply a little over a week ago to look at brooder supplies. Needless to say, I left with brooder supplies and 4 chicks. A white Leghorn, a Rhode Island Red, a blue Australorp and an ISA Brown pullet. THEN a few days later I got two Polish chicks from a girl who told me about this forum. I guess I will be having 10 chickens once I get the original chicks I was supposed to be getting. Wish me luck!!! Attaching a pic of my chicklets. When I pull the phone out they all run to the corner. Lol. 731D3283-B993-4059-834E-BBFBFFAD4468.jpeg

Welcome to chicken world, if you can’t contain yourself from picking up chicks, wait till you hit the second year, or not. There’s chicken math disease going around specially in spring time. I wanted 3 from the very beginning, end up going home w/ 10. The 2nd year darker eggs disease entered my wandering eyes. The 3rd year need blue and green eggs, the 4th year terra cotta color and then..... there’s chicken called ice cream bar, Pendesenca and mad scientist, & olive Egger, this year am eyeing couple of chicks called Sapphire gem that supposed to come to the store yesterday but got delayed for today, am camping out to snag a couple, if they don’t let me buy 2, I’ll buy it all to beat their game. Get the picture?

I have managed to fight off the urge to buy more chicks until yesterday. (I have 8 babies now, 5 weeks old). Went into Tractor yesterday to buy feed, saw they have Polish Bantams (I think?) Managed to leave without them, but am getting my brooder set up this morning to go and get 6. I'm so excited! The bantams are hard to resist!
