where are you located? Its raining here too, but it is Oregon so.....rain is like the sun in Cali.

Babies have been moved to brooder and are thriving very well.

Momma hen is now running around with her hen friends. LOL!

well babies kept jumping out of the nestbox and hiding underneath....so the big chickens would not get to them even with the wiring and wood. So hubby is going to build me a broody place next time so the hen can have her babies for a while.

This is great having a broody hen!

well out of 8 eggs i had under my hen 6 hatched. So i have 6 healthy little silkie chicks 2 of them died 1 was caught in the menbrane and I guess smothered and one was a fully formed chick but for somone reason died and never pipped. I think 6 out of 8 is a awesome hatch tho. Iv switched my nest so chicks came come out with momma Already saw 3 out eating..LOL

IT is just so funny because my broody NN is not brooding anymore!! Now my frizzle hen is broody!!! One is off and then one is on. Sooo interesting. I have eggs under my frizzle girl now and we are on day 2 for her. She right now has BO/silke cross egg and a RIR/Silke cross egg under her....lets see if they do anything. Then I have Silver Laced Wynadotte eggs in the incubator and they are on day 2 as well, but......if I see veins I will put them under her. I rather her hatch them, then running the incubator.

I don't have anymore adult birds to go broody My hen who hatched these chicks out is my only adult bird but i will have more by spring. Hope out of these 6 I get more hens. I am buying a incubator in spring. dont think Ill keep anymore just sell the hatchable eggs and the chicks. If i get any splash or other colors then I do have I may keep some just depends. I guess im done for this year with hatching any eggs...LOL
