Countdown begins! Day 1 (Will Update)

I think my nestbox is high for my broody as well.
Well I got over excited and lifted my hen a little and , nothing

Those babies are sure loud though those eggs!

I might see some tomorow....I really hope so if I am hearing cheeping.

went to go close the coop and all I hear is cheeping under my broody! Oh I would love to wake up to babies! That would be better then chocolate..and thats saying something!

LOL, Yeah im excited for morning I don't think ill be able to sleep a wink. I am so hoping everything works out for under my broody hen. I am hoping the lil one who is still in the menbrane will make it out alive.

Is your broody with the other chickens? If so, how does she do when she hatches them out or have you done that? I am worried about my broody and probably will have to call my friend when I know the babies are out cause I think the hens will kill them.

i dont have my hen with any other hens other then my rooster. I was afraid the first time he would kill the babies and everyone said to take him out but i didnt. I just kept a close eye and he did fine he didnt bother the babies at all he helped the hen he called them to feed and you could catch them all sitting under him from time to time. So i left him with her this time around too.

Also wanted to add forgot...Today is day 20 and my eggs and dont see anything going on yet got up at 8 this morning hoping to hear peeping or see lil heads poking out but nothing so far:/

That is good to know. All the info I get the better it will be.

When I went to go check on "momma" I saw a broken egg shell by her!!!! Then cheeping! Momma won't let me see the baby, but she did take 3 eggs from under her and those I saw only one pip for all 3 eggs and then she placed them back under her. Hmmmmmmmm I wonder what she was doing taking them out in the first place????
Anyway I know we have one baby, but I have no idea what it looks like! LOL

I hope you get to see some cheeping and babies soon! I am sure you will and I am excited for ya!

I am so dissapointed I dont know what went wrong. One egg under my hen died. I don't know what happened...The story is yesterday I thought it was hatching had saw some of the shell broken off about a dime size about 2 hours later i saw more was broken off but there was the menbrane covering the chick. Everyone told me to leave it be so I did I saw no more movement and decided to take the egg out and the chick was dead. Fully formed and the rest of the shell and membrane pilled right off without fuss. Chick was fully formed I dont know what happened.The side where the shell was broke off and u could see was the chicks bottom end its head was still covered by some shell so I am guessing the baby smothered. Also in my friends incubator one chick started hatching lastnight and was dead by morning. It had piped half way and stoped when we open the shell to see what may have went wrong its head was twisted backwards. I dunno I still have 7 eggs under my hen and 4 still in the incubator I saw 2 beginging of pips on my eggs under my broody hen. So today is just 20 so I am hoping atleast some of my chicks make it out.

GOOD NEWS! I have hatched healthy chicks out! I don't know just how many have hatched yet just hear them and see broken shells. They sound strong! No news on the incubator eggs yet but from being disapointed I am now a lil happier!

My broody has two babies that are popping in and out of mom so see the wide wide world! They are so adorable and I will take good pics tomorow!!
Sill 3 eggs left, I really hope they hatch. All of the hens are so curious about the babies.

One baby decided to pop out and roam around on the floor of the coop. Then one of my hens just stared at it and then the baby went back to mom. Hmmmm this will be interesting. I am glad my NN frizzle hen is a mom, she is doing a great job.

It makes me worried if any of my babies have died in the egg, I guess I will be able to tell tomorow.

Congrats on your babies! I think 3 or 4 of mine have hatched out its hard to tell when you have so many heads poping out..LOL so if 4 hatched there is still 3 to go. So far the eggs in my incubator arenting hatching there are 4 left and no progress today.

So its 1 wait and see game when the hen brings the chicks off the nest. I will have to change the nest because last time the chicks had a hard time getting in and out of that nest so I have a special one that i have cut a hole in the side that the chicks can easily go in and out of.
