Mary laid the awaited second egg today, almost 2 full weeks later! It was another small one at 34g

Woohoo, congrats! A couple years ago I also had a pullet who blessed me with her first egg on Thanksgiving! She also hatched on April Fools that year so I figure she just has a thing for special days.

Still waiting here, although I do suspect my naked neck bantam from Easter has begun to lay... But the Cochin bantams still aren't even close.

I’m starting to get one everyday from my June girls. That’s one egg total from 12 chickens.

Eggs from June birds is asking a lot. Mine are from June 8. That’s a huge difference. Mine are also hybrids that usually lay earlier. And one more thing… only 2 out of 12 are laying, so don’t get too discouraged. When the longer days hit about mid January, we’ll have more eggs than we know what to do with.

I was surprised I am getting eggs from my June 20th Welsummer. Not the breed I would expect to lay this early! So far, 5 eggs in 7 days. Hoping we get 1 more layer in the next week…two are looking and acting ready. Assuming the rest will be delayed
