Counted 13 instead of 12 this morning....? updated from blizzard.

I imagine that she has been in there with them since tuesday when they were last out. they like to go in single file (haha got my ducks in a row) and it makes it easy to count them every night (well at least the nights they free range). Well with any luck she will be fit as a fiddle, stay and get along with the rest of my flock. And if she decides to move on o well.

Maybe she's a 'domestic' wild that someone donated to you? Don't wild ducks fly south for the winter?

I thought they migrated south in the winter too, but I was at the library in the middle of Anchorage, Alaska last week and saw hundreds of mallards sitting around on the ice and playing in an open body of water. I was very surprised!!

That's pretty cool. I had a similar though not as cool thing happen with my chickens. The flock got dispersed by a dog one day. They were so scared that several didn't come back. I was out until well after dark for two days looking for everyone. I finally had to accept that I was left with 17 chickens. Fast forward almost 2wks later, I am counting everyone when I am putting them to bed and I keep getting 18! One of my Barred Rock hens came back from Lord knows where. I haven't seen any wild ducks around my property, just Coopers hawks

And they are most certainly not welcome.

She's still here. Past two days i've let em all out to free range and she's put herself up with the rest of them. She is a little flighty when go to shut the door and hasn't got the memo about there being a net in between here and the open sky but other than that she's been calm and forages with the rest of them.

She knows she's got it good. Plus, you let her out during the day, so she can leave any time she wants. She might leave, one day, but I think she likes your ducks, so she's staying.
