County Fair to sell beer?

We used to have one at Polish Festival... but due to rowdies they moved it to the edge of town

Of course..... when it's so accessible, you get the rowdies... I doubt as many will go out of their way to hit the fairgrounds for it

I know a beer garden would be one way to get more people to stick around.... or come with the rest of the family. I'm not saying it's a great thing, I can't STAND beer... but my hubby is a little more likely to hang at the fair for hours and hours if there's something there for him

GRowing up in germany i have a whole different view on the alcohol/ beer ting. I dont know what the big deal is > Why at 21. In germany its legal to drink beer at 16 and hard liquoer at 18. we have a higher speed limit,faster roads yet less deaths that are alcohol related. It is because we value our drivers license more. We have to take 35 required driving lessons at a driv.ed. school. at around 25-30$ each. Loose your license and you have to start allover again and pay again.
Take the criminal aspect out of drinking and it becomes less interesting.

That's the problem though... this ISN'T Germany and people here can get SUPER stupid SUPER fast. We have a lack of personal accountability here in the States

Nelson says the plan for a beer garden -- a first at the seven-day fair, set for next month -- is misguided and will cause him to reconsider whether he wants to spend nearly $10,000 as he did last year to put his deputies at the fairgrounds for security.

He was elected to protect and serve, not pick and chose where and when to do his job. I would attend the next board meeting and ask why the Sheriff thinks its up to him as to when and where to protect citizens. If there is a activity in the county that requires his personel it is his JOB to provide them. Regardless of his feelings as to the appropriateness of a BEER garden if the fair board gets the permits it is LEGAL, live with it.
Grew up in Ohio, went to Hocking/Cuyahoga/Medina/Lorain Co. fairs, and Beer was available. And the best place to get the Illegal beer and Drugs, was the 4H barns

, comeon the kids have to earn some spending change somewhere, the livestock auction wasnt till the end of the week, and mom and dad will only buy so many Corndogs before the wallet goes closed.

"You have city kids coming to the fair to see a hog and they will see people bellowing at a beer garden instead. What's next? Mud wrestling?"

When did they take away the mud rasslin?? I need to get back home more often.
