Oh, i see how it works, woodmort..when someone else states facts about coyote attacks on young children, you like to cast doubt.
Is no one else capable of reading these news event concerning coyote attacks and reading whats there..? Thank you NYboy and Sourland for stating the facts.Or are they some wild "rumors running amuck"..?
Still stuck on the 1995 attacks,huh..? I told you woodmort, just do a yahoo or google search, and you may learn of recent attacks,and see that you are wrong...try...coyote attacks on humans...in the subject line,you'll be surprised at what pops up.These are documented attacks, not rumors running amuck.I also believe your wrong about coyotes going after kids because they are running away from danger,those coyotes go after those kids because they are small and helpless.The same way they go after small pets in peoples back yards.. For anothers comments concerning me advocating widespread coyote killing, thats not what i said. I said coyotes getting to close to you, your children and livestock need to be dealt with in a final manor.If not chances are sooner or later your going to be caught off guard on your little piece of the planet and be sorry you didn't do something sooner.I can only pray its not another child attack for goodness sake..!
Coyotes have a right to live too, just as long as they stay out of mine and my families face, no problem.I stand by my previous statements, if i see them on my mini farm, i will SSS....if i can get the crafty critter ...

really ya'll are fighting over this...I think that the article is vital; but I would like to see the year in the title if it is not recent. I think you both make good points, but instead of telling someone to do a search...provide those links...I think we can fight about more important things...like wether your chicken is not a pure breed ...lol Just joking because of all the forum I have read about people being so uptight...that I understand; just don't agree with the delivery...everyone have a great day

Out here in the country we shoot any coyote if we have the chance so they are really scared of people

I'm not trying to start an argument, just trying to stem the "Kill them All!" hysteria. If you go to this thread and follow the link on the OP you will see some sensible comments in re to coyotes and their attacks--including the comment by a DEC Biologist that only a single 6-year old girl was attack in Rye this summer. There is also an article on things to do to prevent attacks which includes the advice of not acting like prey by running away. I'm concerned with the facts not stories that have grow as they have traveled from one person to another or are as old as 15 years.

I bet more people have been killed by swans and geese than coyotes... my goose tries to kill me everyday. My children live in terror.

Same here. They are shot on sight. There are at least two packs in our area (hear `em exchanging insults at night), they are the seldom seen species of predator (took one manged female with a fox set, shot one healthy young male out courting I suppose, over a period of 13yrs).

Drive towards town, at night, and there they are crossing the suburban streets like pedestrians out jogging.​

I hope this will convince parents,pet owners,walkers in nature and livestock keepers that coyotes to close to your homes and farms are not a good thing.I never advocated killing every coyote in the wild.I think you will find woodmort that plenty of these attacks were recent enough even for you..heres the link...
