I know this and I don't care, but all it takes is ONE wrong person to see this and he'll have a knock at the door!

How true Wolfwoman.

well in his original post he did say coon trap and coyote trap....he never said he had a hawk, eagle or raptor trap set. It is just like fishing you never know what is gonna bite your hook or wonder into your trap. He did release it unharmed so no harm....no foul..... he was just letting you know something interesting that had happened.

The fines for messing harassing trap harming do anything to birds of prey are huge. To include jail time If you are going to do it "DO NOT POST IT". Do you really think Law Enforcement do not check web sites like this for violators. I understand it was just a chance catch but when you took upon yourself to relocate it is when you did wrong.

I wish my hawks would go into my traps! I would totally want to relocate them to my moms home over an hour away!
Thanks for sharing but I agree that you better delete this. You know( I always bring it up) my neighbor got fined after a neighbor tattled on him for killing a hawk.

i really don't think any game and fishery people monitor sites like these looking for petty things and people who are not harming any raptors. they have their hands full with poachers and foriegn traders to worry about some small chicken farmer

Beautiful hawk. Nice picl

I'm not getting into the "You shoulda" debate.

Here on BYC I've read that crows are a good antidote to hawks. The question is how do you get the crows to take up at or near your place so they can displace the hawks.

Maybe someone can give a better idea of how to do that. Or a search on BYC might do it.

good luck.

Actually, USF&G reads regularly here. And there have been cases where people got the dreaded door knock. Followed by big fines. It's NEVER a good thing to post a Federal offense online anywhere. The world can see BYC, fb, etc. And Google is a powerful search engine.

I have a few hawks that fly over my coop, but the crows do chase them away. I have several crows that live around my yard. I never want those crows to leave. They are more then welcome. I also have seen a bald eagle in my yard before. I have never had an issues with them. Hawks yes. I think the eagles are more intested in the fish from the river. But yes it is a huge no no to trap an eagle. You should offer a chicken to him out of respect! lol
