coyote trap worked real good for hawk with pics

Relocating animals with strong homing abilities not practical. It was a waste of gas which gets me riled up. Effort I consider well intentioned but should not involve relocation part may be a legal problem. If need be, then we can look into what restrictions exists for private individuals to relocate animals. I am a biologists and rules are bcoming increasingly strict concerning my abilities to move animals around without specific wording making such moving OK.

gosh, I'm glad this thread got bumped. So cool to see a hawk like that up close. I'd love to have a large raptor project going on. Wow, Do you happen to have taken any more pictures of the little guy? I'd love to see them.

It is kinda funny that this post was a yr old and got picked up and the argument resumed like it was the day before. I think it was good of you to release the hawk. Maybe it did come back and maybe it didnt but it was a cool story for you to share with us, especially the pictures. Since you never asked whether it was legal or not i was suprised by all the unecessary arguing over it but i do have one question it seems others failed to care about. How the heck do you get a raptor out of a live trap without losing any limbs?

it was not hard i used welding gloves to handle the cage an release it he did not want to be close to me as sone as it opened he was gone.lol

OK, old post or what it's up and seems a few enjoy hawk pics. Here's a goshawk eating squirrel in my back yard when I still lived in Maine. You can see the tail and piece of meat in it's mouth.

We are licensed falconers. When we are looking to trap a passage red tail (this years hatch), we get permission and list a pheasant facitity about an hour and a half from us. They are always happy to have us come and trap and remove one of the hawks

Last year, I took my apprentice, and she kept the fifth bird we trapped in a three hour period. When I don't go to this farm, I can spend HOURS trying to locate, and get the proper paper work to trap a youngster.

One year, we spent about SIX weeks locating a bird. Much prefer the pheasant farm!

Oh- we can't trap and keep ant adult plumage bird. So it is not as simple as just catching any red tail.
